Scientists may have cracked the giant Siberian crater mystery — and the news isn’t good
Excerpt;

It may be methane gas, released by the thawing of frozen ground. According to a recent Nature article, “air near the bottom of the crater contained unusually high concentrations of methane — up to 9.6% — in tests conducted at the site on 16 July, says Andrei Plekhanov, an archaeologist at the Scientific Centre of Arctic Studies in Salekhard, Russia. Plekhanov, who led an expedition to the crater, says that air normally contains just 0.000179% methane.”

Wait until the real.venting starts....

Strike a match near it burn all life from the surface. Maybe enough methane will be released before that to cause runaway global warming that will for a brief time make it so hot people will be praying for the end?

IDK but if there is enough of movement happening in the core of the earth to move magnetic north towards Russia; could a huge influx of movement at the core cause a methane explosion, if it disturbed a large methane pocket deep in the ground??

Global warming is a scam.

Sorry for the huge run-on sentence.

Lets not forget, at one time in history Siberia was a tropical jungle, California was a desert and now we have new islands emerging out from the sea.

In the pics it looks like there was a deep layer of solid rock between the pool at the bottom and the surface. The hole seeks to have smooth sides like it was drilled. If it exploded outward, where is all of the rock? If it caved in, why does it look like it exploded, and where is all of the missing rock? This is a large crater and thousands of tons of rock is just gone.

ALL the methane gas released in D.C. hasn't produced a crater, why would it in Russia???

takes oxygen to produce an explosion. Methane by itself is inert

my guess is that the bottom fell out of the hole, not so much something - even methane was "pushed" out, but something vacated a space - a very large space, thus a gaping hole- from where it used to be ... I think it collapsed, and it did it so fast that it burped up the dirt we see around the rim ... like a splash

that's just the way I 'see' it happening ... like you said, where did all the dirt go ... obviously ... it when IN, because it didn't go OUT, right ...

if we were in the final stages of a pole shift, would the magnetics cause a huge shift of "matter" (liquids first) ... leaving big vacant spaces on one side of the globe and maybe rising mass or bulking up (islands appearing) on the other ?

fuck anything is possible ... exciting times we live in

methane releases tend to cascade. a methane explosion could invoke a tipping point that would be difficult to contain.

high concentrations of methane will self ignite if compressed. cold air would compress in a large crater.

And yet we keep on fighting each other, one would say that there are bigger things to worry about than disputes, even if they are religious of nature. We're most of all stuck in a fight against life, even the sun is acting strange.

Methane has a boiling point of −161 °C (−257.8 °F) at a pressure of one atmosphere.[8] As a gas it is flammable over a range of concentrations (4.4–17%) in air at standard pressure.

the posted article cited concentration levels of 9.6% at the bottom of the crater.
