Nefarious Libertine (OP) User ID: 61015194 United States 08/06/2014 08:42 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Just to add. Was watching Fox the other day and their Dr. was on there saying they were trying to fight 2 diseases. The 1st was Ebola and the 2nd was fear. Told me everything I needed to know right there on the truth. They can't do squat about the first disease, but they are going to do everything to fight the second one FEAR. We won't get reliable information with them thinking in this manner. We do not learn from history because our studies are brief and prejudiced. In a surprising manner, 250 years emerges as the average length of national greatness. This average has not varied for 3,000years. The stages of the rise and fall of great nations seem to be: The Age of Pioneers , The Age of Conquests ,The Age of Commerce ,The Age of Affluence ,The Age of Intellect ,The Age of Decadence. Decadence is marked by: Defensiveness, Pessimism, Materialism,Frivolity An influx of foreigners The Welfare State A weakening of religion. Decadence is due to: Too long a period of wealth and power, Selfishness Love of money ,The loss of a sense of duty. The life histories of great states are amazingly similar, and are due to internal factors. Their falls are diverse, because they are largely the result of external causes. - Sir John Glubb The Fate of Empires We are at the end of the Age of Decadence heading into COLLAPSE |

windowlicker User ID: 58667996 United States 08/06/2014 08:44 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The Level 1 Alert just issued for Ebola is the highest Response Alert and allows CDC to direct ALL possible assets to address this Ebola outbreak. This is kinda like declaring it an emergency allowing it to allocate resources. It has nothing to do with travel just assigning assets. The Level 3 Travel Alert, (the highest Travel alert) still exists for the countries of Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia. Nigeria was raised to a Level 2 Alert. I got that from here: [link to www.breitbart.com] INFJ Rarest of Personalities and a walking contradiction. |

The two countries combined make up one third the global population. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 59245951 Their public health systems suck and the people are unhealthy. In both countries the governments are untrusted. Add all of South and central America, the Caribbean basin, the middle east other than Israel, Eastern Europe, the rest of east Asia, exclude Australia and New Zealand add the rest of the pacific basin. I have been saying for years that human stupidity is the most likely cause of human extinction. Shut down the airlines or die. JamesB |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 41528251 United States 08/06/2014 08:51 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Please everyone, stop making it seem like this Alert being raised isn't a big deal. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 22770004 It is. And EBOLA is way worse that the flu or a common cold, so why is that even being compared. And, as the count goes exponential, one person points out that, these are only the cases that have been reported - how many cases out there have not been reported yet? |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 58328072 United States 08/06/2014 08:52 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Confirmed, man, this is getting scary. Right after I post a thread about lack of containment ability in the US. Still wondering what the result is of the guy in New York. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 35282601 Maybe he is positive, the reason for the level 1 alert. Oh god... He was negative. [link to www.cbsnews.com] |
nutmeg User ID: 60605776 United States 08/06/2014 08:53 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I posted this on another thread, and feel it's important to post here... What about flight crews, pilots and flight attendants who have flights and layovers in the affected countries? Thousands of crew members of US airlines, Delta and United, live in the USA. I feel badly for them. They're staying in hotels in Africa, they're eating in restaurants there and have close contact with hundreds of passengers every day. They use the same bathrooms on the plane. The flight attendants collect trash, used napkins, used cups, and used food containers from the passengers. Besides, upon arrival from Africa, cleaning crews board and clean the plane....crappy stuff in seat pockets like barf bags with barf in them. Once, on a 14 hour flight to China, I watched "Contagion." Pretty scary! From article below: Q: Do U.S. airlines fly to West Africa? A: Delta Air Lines flies to Dakar, Senegal; Accra, Ghana and Lagos, Nigeria. The airline also flies to Monrovia, Liberia, but for unrelated business reasons previously announced it will cancel that service at the end of September. Delta is letting passengers with flights to the region in the next two weeks push back travel until the end of the month. United Airlines also flies to Lagos, but has not issued any travel waiver. American Airlines does not fly to Africa. Q: What are U.S. airlines saying about it? A: There have been no flight cancelations. All three airlines said they are in regular communication with government agencies and health officials and will follow their recommendations. The response from all 3 was "what issue?" Quoting: IndigoMoon I talked to a nurse who had the same response..they are not keeping the front line, at risk, need to be aware, workers in the loop about this either.. and she is a friend of mine who recently woke up..she would have told me if she heard anything..
