Where is the Holy Spirit at the Pool?

I was working outside today, and lamenting the fact that the Seventies tunes they play on their loudspeakers weren't playing. It didn't sound like children were playing there either.

The pool is a mini water-park, where children play on water-slides and many people go to cool off on a hot day like today. Today has been a beautiful, partly sunny day.

It is a perfect day to go to the pool. The college age kids who run the pool have a way of closing it unexpectedly when they decide there aren't enough people enjoying it.

Today they closed it shortly after noon. If they should ever have families and their own children, and they make the effort to get together early on a hot Summer afternoon, dress for swimming, get in their car and drive down to the water-park, spending hard earned dollars for gas, and they walk from their parking spot down the street, listening to their children speaking of what fun they will have on the trip they planned days in advance, will they find that the kids, whose hard duty it was to sit around the pool and listen to some tunes, have decided there weren't enough people in the pool so they closed it.

People buy season passes to that pool, and they aren't cheap. They expect it to be open on a beautiful day.

Don't just count the people in the pool.

It is all the people who count on the pool who count.

Those kids don't think of service, even when it is easy and pleasant, and they deprive people of their hard earned leisure activities.

Children, who don't understand, go home disappointed.

Service involves thinking ahead and waiting for those who will be arriving.
