not really, unless it's a scene that reminds you of their death..(Hoffman doing drugs, Williams in 'world's greatest dad' or 'what dreams may come', etc)

but put in 'the hunger games' or 'RV' and it's all good.

Funny you mention 'what dreams may come', it's on showtime now and is one of the movies I was referring to.

that movie, what dreams may come, is about his wife committing suicide and what happens to her in the afterlife or something.

this is sort of a serendipitous scene. prescient, or symbolic.

He is dead in the scene but writing through his wife, his spirit medium, the words "I still exist".

He still exists.

It's more a matter of 'too soon'. We watch dead actors all the time, tho, like John Wayne.

The entire Australian Aboriginal freaks out about that, but more in a cultural sense. The government news stations, and some of the commercial stations, always provide warnings in news bulletins and before some shows if footage of deceased persons is about to come on screen.

Sure.

Gone With the Wind. It's a Wonderful Life.

There's some colliding film titles with dead stars.

Older movies don't bother me. I think it has more to do with the actor/actress being alive during my lifetime. Only began bothering me in the last 10 years or so. I think it was about the time Jerry Orbach from Law & Order died. Funny thing is I never cared too much for his acting.

aboriginals are really onto something
i suspect these sacrifices
are important
BECAUSE these dead people are living on through the film
they are stealing souls, talent, genius even! I get chills seeing Heath Ledger, I totally agree with OP. I seriously am beginning to think being trapped in those films IS literal HELL for the sacrificed. No rest.

One of the reasons I love the old movie channel is that they yes are famous, but never to me. So watching a movie from then, is like a purer watching experience. Like reading a new book. I don't know any of them and have never seen of "selfie" of them in their underwear. Glamour and mystery.

Nope, not really. Although one does get fleeting thoughts about deceased actors while watching some of their work but it doesn't spoil the moment, much. But i think i agree with Randy Quaid's words "there is a malignant tumor of star whackers" in the industry.

Re: Anyone else get creeped out watching movies where the main character is dead in real life?
One time I was watching a movie that was maybe 20, 25 years old. I was thinking about how most everyone in the movie was still alive, but just older. Then there was a scene with a cat in it, and it occurred to me that that cat was dead. Then I starting thinking how every cat, and every dog for that matter, that was alive in the entire world when that movie was made was now dead. That started freaking me out.

That could be what I'm experiencing. Movies where there isn't any type of "relationship" to the actors doesn't bother me at all. John Wayne died when I was about 10 but I still love his old westerns.

I find myself changing channels when I see there is a dead, in real life, actor/actress. Almost has a morbid feeling when watching some deceased actors.
