Unusual military aircraft activity central VA 8/15/14

I have seen several overflights of military choppers in the last few days here then today 2 HUGE C17's (4 engine transports)flew over low (-2,000ft). Sounded like thunder.

I have never seen a C17 even during airshows here. Makes me wonder what they're up to. This isn't some rinky-tink national guard exercise going on.

Strange air traffic in your area please post to this thread.

ETA: 5 minutes after posting this a 3rd C17 flew over low. They could be making airdrops at the local airport. We do have critical nuclear facilities locally.
