Rick Perry in connection with the investigation into an effort to force Travis County District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg to resign. At the center of the issue is a complaint about intimidation stemming from Perry’s threat to veto of $3.7 million in state funding to the Public Integrity Unit run by Lehmberg’s office. The threat came after she pleaded guilty to drunk driving and served a 45-day sentence; Perry called on her to step down but she refused to resign her position. Perry then vetoed the funding for the PIU. A grand jury was called to determine whether or not Perry broke the law when he threatened to veto the funding. Didn't someone say that texas was funding the national guard at the border and they arrived today? Guess he wasn't supposed to do that? |

(a) A public servant commits an offense if, with intent to obtain a benefit or with intent to harm or defraud another Quoting: Anonymous Coward 21977 Now that sounds like what the DA's office is doing. Here's the thing. The woman has a problem with alcohol and lying. She clearly tried to coerce law enforcement with her position. She needed to be fired, and she was given the chance to resign without cause being part of her employment record. Public trust would have been restored in the unit. Perry would have signed the bill, freed up the funding, and all of the sober people in the DA's office who actually were working on cases would have continued. And that includes investigating the cancer charity. It was said that the charity was operating illegally or anything else, only that they were not fully vetted - actions of the DA's office itself. |

Does show she loved her vodka though. It was about her driving drunk, not about the excerpt below. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 60094389 Not able to find the original article, but this one takes a couple of paragraphs from the original. That's just the alcohol purchased with a card at that store. If you've ever known an alcoholic, you know that they buy it anywhere they can, and get others to buy for them. Here is another good article, [link to m.statesman.com] Viewing the videos in another thread with the dui stop, and then having to be restrained, she kept blaming the cops who stopped her for "ruining her career". She said it over and over again. When in truth, they stopped her from killing herself or someone else. This case is the alcoholic blaming someone else, again. |

Not too long after another drunk younger woman killed others with her vehicle. Lehmberg was belligerent and doing her best to use her status. |
