Death of the Republic: Los Angeles to PAY Low Information Voters to Vote

"Ethics Commissioner Jessica Levinson, an attorney and professor at Loyola Law School, said the city should not have to wait until the end of the decade to take steps to improve voter participation. "We have turnout in citywide elections in the high teens and low 20s and I think that's pretty dismal," she said.

Federal law prohibits people from accepting payment in exchange for voting. But Levinson, who voted to pursue the lottery concept, contends that statute would not apply in an election where there are no federal positions on the ballot."

So the ETHICS COMMISSION votes to implement a program that's against federal law. I think it's time we just cede all of California to Mexico.

Just when you thought California couldn't get more ridiculous, now they want to pay idiots to vote.

I guess its not their fault. I'm sure all that pollution drifting over from China has caused some brain damage out there.

I dunno, it worked for Julius Caesar, killed the Republic that way.

Of course, it has worked for a lot of low life scumbags since then too.

Let's hope that the City Council remembers what happened in Rome and tosses out that reommendation.
