hello my dayshift friends, I just got caught up, and watched the Nasa/notNasa video. omg, looking at the fountains from our cams gives NO idea of the size and magnitude of this thing. It is truly frightening. Luis and Guga and Cow, thanks again for everything you are doing.I don't remember who said it, a few pages ago, but I had to laugh at the Facebook complaints, hahaha, yes that would have been my FB friends too, a volcano??? Has she lost her mind? Is ignorance really bliss, I don't know the answer. Leaving soon, will be back tonight. Peace.

I found something interesting.
Our GPS, but by days.

Do you see a pattern that repeats itself.
Linked to the moon?

btw, CA, can you add link to your site, please. ;)

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 63097075

Since we in reality are dealing with behavior of liquids here, one cannot rule out some celestial influence from the moon creating tides in the "magma pump".

I have wondered if there is some periodic influence throughout the 24 hour period as activity seems to be somewhat higher when the eruption area is facing the dark side, and lower when facing the solar side.
 Quoting: Gavin

I read an article a few weeks ago about this, and that the moon cycles affect the movement of magma, as well as oil and gas lines.
Didn't think to save it.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 42239284

Well, that all depends. If Miss Barda clears her throat it could be a belch. If the plug descends into the throat of the volcano, it might be a mighty queef.

No, Iceland has produced some damn big eruptions but not that big. Pinatubo was a big one, but only modest global impact.
 Quoting: fred 59760101

I don't recall Pinatubo having an ice cap over it...makes a big difference in terms of what happens in the event of an eruption. Just an "fyi".

when the caldera is at it's highest is approximately where we're at now, and at it's lowest where they think it'll end up.

and Pinatubo's gases and ashes were well dispersed by the time they got to the northern hemisphere

if this one goes Pinatubo or bigger, the s02, c02, fluorine ash and all the other crap are injected straight over our heads, and will stay there for ages

Just a thought.
In the following weeks we will see new snow on top of bardabunga. As we have a depression in the middle all rain will flow to this point and freeze adding extra weight to the caldera.

it already has over 40 billion tons of ice, probably much more. a little bit more won't make much difference.

by far the heaviest object is the failing caldera itself. the ice is a complication. a pretty severe complication.

The use of the word "seismical" should tell you all you need to know.

This is someone who wants to create a non-meaningful connection between what's happening in Iceland and "global warming".

To disclose my experience from here in Wisconsin, USA, September, 2014 will be the 12th consecutive month that we have experienced average temperatures that are 2-3 F LOWER than historical norms with no end in sight...
