What is the difference of 13 kantus of 19.7 years and 13 cycles of 20 years?
What is the significance of the two, why does it make a difference?

13 kantus of 19.7 ended in 2012
13 cycles of 20 years ends in 2016

So what is the big deal??

Thank you in advance.

I tried to figure the Mayan system out and only got partway. I was able to understand Tuns and Baktuns, then gave up.

Input required, please.

Personal opinions surround the number 19.7 vs 20 year computation question, I think mainly based on differing translations of calendar artifacts.

Since their 13 katun number is derived from the moon, it makes the most sense that the second major Mayan number would be planet derived.
Jupiter and Saturn, the 2 farthest visible planets (which the ancients thought were stars), make their conjunction on average once every 19.9 years.

Perhaps a Mayan end date computed using 13 and 19.9 will provide the most accurate calendar?

If anyone has seen such a calendar or wants to create one, please post the link.

Thank you, to all of you, for taking the time to reply.

So, there isn't any real significance to this, as far as or in regards to prophecy, consciousness shift or any thing pertaining to 'change'?

Here is the reason why I ask; -

The great pyramid and on the Great Seal of the United States, there are two endings - one being in 2012 which is based on 13 kantus of 19.7 and the other in 2016 which is 13 cycles of 20 years.

I see the US Great Seal pyramid as just one of many markers that point to now as the completion of a major change cycle.
It is fascinating that this modern era Seal aligned with ancient Mayan time keeping, whether or not it was human planned.

The current rare Blood Moon tetrad aligning with Old Testament Jewish holy days also culminates in 2016.
GLPer "Pattern Recognition" discovered a Fibonacci sequence aligning with the book of Revelation also culminating in 2016.

By using the Great Chronocrator, the Jupiter-Saturn conjunction, for the time keeper to compute the 25,920 year Great Year of zodiac,
The age of Pisces technically ended at the "Magnificent Conjunction" of February 19, 1961.

The Jupiter-Saturn triple conjunction of 1980-81 marked the dawn of the Age of Aquarius. So there was a 19.8 year window of zodiac age change, rather than one calendar year or day.

Each 2160 year zodiac Age requires 1 extra Jupiter-Saturn conjunction to arrive at 2160, as 19.8 is the number, not 20.
The Magnificent Conjunction of 1961 completed the age. The 25,920 year Great Year of the zodiac contains 12 of these.

Here's a short article that explains this Jupiter-Saturn timekeeping as it was viewed by the ancient Hebrew sages.

Another major marker of the conjunction of 1961 is that a rare (only 4 since 2500 BCE) triple conjunction of Jupiter-Saturn pinpointed 1961 by both directly preceding it in 1940-41 and directly following it in 1980-81. In world events, 1961 symbolically brought the return of Camelot, with JFK being inaugurated leader of the "Camelot Presidency."
