Worrying about money

Do you live beyond you means? Whats your situation?

No. I'm employed, husband is also. It's just all the rising cost and the expenses of everyday life. We are barely getting by. I should be grateful that we are getting by but I worry all month and obsess. I can't stop it with anxiety. I try so hard to save and then before I even save a few hundred we are hit with an unexpected expense. Cannot get ahead now matter what we do.

Worrying doesn't help anyone but makes a person ill. Place your priorities on important things in life such as God and family you will be much happier.

Just accept a lower standard of living. Be happy with a roof over your head, healthy food and time to yourself. There are lots and lots of no or low cost ways of entertaining oneself.
There is tremendous societal pressure not to do this.
You've been conditioned not to accept this.
But you will thank this advice in the end.
Most things aren't worth worrying about to the point where you are upset.
Money certainly isn't one of them.
It is a conscious choice.
You will be happy and the world will seem a different, friendlier place.

One thing people will say is 'you need to be self employed, start a business. Otherwise you'll always be in the rat race.'
While true - there is a right and wrong time to start a business. Try to survive for now - just get by. We're in for some more years of pain. Once inflation has taken hold (and it will) THEN you may want to think about starting a business.

In the meantime - stay out of debt. Keep your head above water. And if you can start buying some silver...you can always cash that back in if you have an emergency.

Money is an external concept in your mind and will never by itself, bring you happiness. I suggest switching your concept of happiness and how to achieve it, over to something internal, which you have total and absolute control over. Something like attitude, perspective etc. It's a good first step and pays off big in the long run. Never forget... Only you are in control of your joy, nobody else is and least of all a material possession.

If you own your home rent it out or sell it and move somwhere less expensive. I would imagine this would be the big monthly bill you have got. It's a start i guess.

or, you and hubby could apply for overtime at your jobs. Bring that little bit extra in at the end of the month.

or....you could go down the route of seeing the Doctor and having him prescribe something to you if it really is that Bad. I know i know, Insurance and Medical bills is the last thing you want to see. Anxiety and Stress if not delt with in someway will just get bigger.

It's horrible to worry about anything OP. Hope you can find a way to overcome it. Did you ever go fishing? Camping in a tent with no computer or distractions? Sit by a bonfire at night, listening to tree frogs, owls, hearing woodland creatures moving about, and smell good food cooking in the morning? Look around at all the life enjoying the beautiful day, or look around and find your tent is being flooded because you pitched in the wrong place? Hard to worry when you're doing any of those. OP, you have a legitimate concern.

Prices are rising & bad things are happening all around the world.

You can let your concern consume you...or not.

Many people feel this way about one thing or another (money, ebola, super volcano, etc.).

You need to find a way to manage your concerns...somebody mentioned camping or fishing, I think that's a great idea!

Or you could begin a hobby that might pay something, you could make charcloth on the back yard grill & sell it on ebay or some such thing.

One day you'll be dead and it won't matter.

All those days you spent worrying about money will be days you've missed out on actually living.



Your time is better spent focusing on what really matters.

i haven't worried about money a day in my life, so it's difficult to empathize

i also live in a 1bd apt, never "go out" and don't own a car so i guess i really dont know anything about "expenses"

Very true. Life is easiest lived when you are focused on creating a life instead of making a living.

The reason you worry about it all the time is that it is the difference between life and death. Money is the difference between comfortable and uncomfortable.

The whole scam of money is what keeps most of us awake at night, not having enough of it to live.

It isn't the money you are worried about, it's the lack of it.

You are not crazy. Many of us are a hiccup away from being homeless or jobless these days. You are rightfully worried.

Planning ahead and being on a what if mode isn't wrong, it's healthy. But if you are worrying all the time and doing nothing to change that, then you need to take action and change it.

That's not true at all. This whole game is a rat race. Your odds of making it on your own completely suck. It's almost a joke, but it's still a rat race.

Light a candle and meditate on manifesting abundance and peace in your life. If your family is healthy and intact, you have good friends, good food, and some $$ in the bank, you are blessed. You can manifest more abundance by giving freely and often.

If you don't have any savings, then you should be worried. I mean that with kindness, not judgment. I'm not a new age hippy who says money isn't important. Of course it's important. And it feels terrible to worry about it (been there).

There are only two ways to make it better: earn more or spend less. Try to find a way to do both. You didn't post any details, so it's hard to give specific suggestions.

Go give your last dime to a homeless person, or the only food that you can afford to eat at that day. Let it all hang out and let go.

i have myself set up to where i really dont worry, but yet i do... it is due to the system that is place, how it operates and such. when i focus off that system i find peace. simple as growing a plant or taking natural processes under ur control. get some independence and watch the attacks hot you up to try and bring u back into control or dependence. hope that makes sense.

Stop being so selfish and stingy and your money woes will fade away.
