Re: Do you think ISIS (that we funded) will strike in the USA?
ISIS is not funded by USA, but by Russia, just like the Chechens fighting in Ukraine. ISIS commander is a Chechen!

Omar al-Shishani has become the most recognisable commander of Isis terror group
Omar al-Shishani, one of hundreds of Chechens who have been among the toughest jihadi fighters in Syria, has emerged as the face of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, appearing frequently in its online videos.

Russians and Chechens don't like each other at all. Putin fought a huge war there a decade ago.
The Chechens were all thanking America for their uniforms and weapons. Saw it on a British documentary about the civil war there.

Chechen Islamic fighters are essentially mercenaries. They'll fight for whoever now so the us is is their biggest employers.

There's so much disinformation in this thread it's making my head spin.

If ISIL attacks the US Hanoi McCain Zbig Brzezinski and john Kerry should be arrested.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 14620252

Now Chechen mercenaries are under Putin's command, he pays them really well!

Ramzan Akhmadovich Kadyrov is the Head of the Chechen Republic and a former Chechen rebel.
He has the support of current Russian President Vladimir Putin and was awarded the Hero of Russia medal, the highest honorary title of Russia.

At the current time it would be close to pointless for IS to attack the US as it would only serve to stall the progress in their current core areas. The same is the case for Israel, where the IS has said they are not strong enough yet to take on Israel.

What we may see both in the US and Europe is much more unrest caused by IS supporters, government clampdown on these and clashes between IS supporters and the general population. This could very well turn violent in some cases, but not as an attack on a general country.

Re: Do you think ISIS (that we funded) will strike in the USA?
What has Russia got to do with this?

ISIS is Islam showing it's true nature and this caliphate is something they have all had wet dreams about since 1924 when the last caliphate was abolished.

In the poll incidentally the Egyptian government thinks ISIS is funded by Qatar and Turkey. Which is pretty close IMHO.
 Quoting: Gavin

You must be joking! Why would Qatar and Turkey fund an organization led by a Chechen?

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 62129328

Where the leader currently is from is irrelevant as long as he is a devout muslim supporting the cause and sharia. According to a local, vocal group supporting IS, true Islam does not recognize country borders.

Qatar is a well known funder of international terrorism, but what exactly their motivation is can be better explained by others. In the poll, quite a few of the arabic governments pointed to Qatar as a primary source of funding for IS.

When it comes to Turkey, Turkey had ambitions to join the EU, but has repeatedly been turned down for multiple reasons, and has therefore turned the focus of their ambitions elsewhere.

By supporting IS, the can get rid of their Kurdish problem (Kurdistan as a separate national state), and their currently leadership is fast taking the country in a much more Islamic direction.

If you look at the maps IS has published over the (desired) extent of their caliphate, it quite closely match the maximum extent of the Ottoman empire, and it would be natural for Turkey to want to regain this reach now they are out in the cold by the EU.

There also recently surfaced reports that the WH and the Turkish government no longer speak to each other. Calls from the WH not being returned. This may very well have to do with the weapons the US supplied to FSA ending up in the hands of IS, and the virtually open border that has existed between Turkey and IS controlled territory. Turkey allegedly has helped IS sell the oil produced in occupied territories also, thereby indirectly helping IS financially.

The Assad government also thinks Turkey is a main sponsor of IS, where they have said in a statement by the foreign minister "They (IS) are welcomes on red carpet in Turkey."
 Quoting: Gavin

ISIS has special relations with the Syrian government's mukhabarat—intelligence agency—and its bases within Syria are exempt from being targeted by the Syrian air force under the condition that ISIS continues to pump oil to army installations from oilfields that they have captured.[294] The Syrian government did not begin to fight ISIS until June 2014 despite its having a presence in Syria since April 2013, according to Kurdish officials.
[link to en.wikipedia.org]

ISIS is a Russian sponsored organization that is actually in friendly relations with Assad!
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 62129328

Here's how ISIS got covertly armed by the Syrian army: they attacked 3 regiments and "defeated" them within 3 days (sic!) and took all their weapons!

FiSyria, a website close to Russian-speaking fighters in the Islamic State (IS) has published a claimed announcement from Umar Shishani regarding IS’s position in Hasaka and the capture of Regiment 121, a major Assad military installation.

Message from Abu Umar Al-Shishani: The military base is located on a large territory five kilometers south of the city Hasaka. It consists of three regiments: - Artillery Regiment - Mortar Regiment - Rocket Regiment

The operation began on the night of 27 Ramadan. Having seen the names of the regiments, you can imagine what the Mujahideen faced. During the fighting in the first and third day half of the territory was taken completely, including the artillery and mortar regiments, the surroundings of the rocket regiment was taken, military commanders were killed.

The "killed" commanders are probably among the leaders if ISIS now.

Re: Do you think ISIS (that we funded) will strike in the USA?
Seeing many of ISIS come from the West and have rejected our values and are ungrateful for the opportunities offered them here.

It is inevitable that given the chance they will strike the West.

I asked on here at the time what would happen to all the American gear that they were planning to leave behind in Iraq?

Well know we know.

It was obviously a bad idea if the intention was peace .

If this was left deliberately to arm ISIS you really need to reassess your intelligence people.

ISIS seem prepared to spread wherever they can.

It was silly to start the fracas in Ukraine .

I expect Russia would have been a good ally.

But no.

Someone reverted to greed and the cold war scenario .

So last century.

Anyone with an ounce of sensitivity can feel the start of great changes for the new century.

It is well know there are a substantial number of IS fighters from Russian speaking areas who are muslims, and supports the cause (or in many cases are hired hands). These have nothing with the Putin regime to do.

I think ISIS is just a television image revamp of Al Queda, and the Muslim Brotherhood, but still run by all the same people (Saudi Arabia, USA, Britain, and Israel).

No one had ever fucking heard of ISIS three months ago, now they are the single deadliest, largest, weaponized, and well funded terrorist organization the world has ever seen.

So why did we need a new and improved enemy? Because they know the American People were sick and fucking tired of war and hearing about Al Queda, when most objective and informed people already knew it was all a CIA creation and we were fully in bed with them in Libya, Tunisia, and Syria...

Bin Laden is dead, and they needed a new and even more frightening face for Global Terrorism.

So here comes ISIS, storming the castle like the propaganda barbarians they are paid to be, but how do they get a war weary public in the USA to back another adventure in the Middle East?

I think they will strike and strike soon but in no way shape or form do I think they are an independent organization. I think this is a CIA/US gov't created & tax payer funded entity designed to keep the war on terror going. Of course now, they don't need our money and have gone rogue but this was/is all gov't created/sponsored. It will be interesting to see if they attack any gov't positions like Washington DC, politicians in general or any major corporation's headquarters. I mean, with all the supposed threats to national security that have been thwarted, how many have been directed at the gov't or major corporations?

US supported Saddam - till he wanted to dinar the oil
US supported the Taliban - till they blocked heroin production
US supported Free Syrian Army fighters till they morphed into ISIS and started selling oil to Russia who sells it to Europe.
- all of a sudden their evil beyond comprehension worse than what GIJOE had to deal with when he fought cobra commander..

What they miscalculated was how supplying weapons to FSA and other so called moderate muslim groups in Syria would backfire. The IS guys basically robbed them wholesale, turned the weapons against them and went on a shooting spree.

The west has also been lulled into this false pretense of moderate and peaceful muslims. They exist under certain conditions, but the beast keeps lurking within.

its all over gas and oil. simple as that

[link to www.greatdreams.com]

look at your key players in that region. look where these pipelines run to. how ironic that syria was a key country in terms of oil pipe highways.

''The 2011 uprisings, it would seem - triggered by a confluence of domestic energy shortages and climate-induced droughts which led to massive food price hikes - came at an opportune moment that was quickly exploited. Leaked emails from the private intelligence firm Stratfor including notes from a meeting with Pentagon officials confirmed US-UK training of Syrian opposition forces since 2011 aimed at eliciting "collapse" of Assad's regime "from within."

So what was this unfolding strategy to undermine Syria and Iran all about? According to retired NATO Secretary General Wesley Clark, a memo from the Office of the US Secretary of Defense just a few weeks after 9/11 revealed plans to "attack and destroy the governments in 7 countries in five years", starting with Iraq and moving on to "Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Iran." In a subsequent interview, Clark argues that this strategy is fundamentally about control of the region's vast oil and gas resources.''
