Last week Pope Francis said that it was “licit to stop the unjust aggressor” when asked by reporters about a possible US bombing of Iraq to stop IS, which has made many see Francis as approving of the strikes.

From the very beginning of the Syrian conflict, it was no mystery that the "Syrian Rebels" were comprised of large numbers of al-Qaeda (another Western creation during the Cold War) and other foreign mujahedin, who are funded supported by the U.S and her Western partners, along with the Jordanians, Turks, Saudis, and other of the Gulf’s real tyrants. Most of the big massacres (Houla, Homs, Tremesh) that were blamed on Assad turned out to be committed by the "rebels." Some of the leading Catholic voices in Syria - Bishop Antoine Audo of Aleppo, Patriarch Gregory III Laham of Damascus, Mother Superiro Agnes Miriam of the Cross of the Diocese of Homs - had stated that the "rebels" were mostly foreign Islamic extremists who were intentionally targeting the Christian population of Syria (which was protected under Assad) for destruction. “Peace in Syria could be saved if everyone told the truth,” said French priest Phiip Tournyol Clos, who visited Syria to make a report of the situation on the ground.

From the very beginning, the Western gov't-media complex consistently painted the Syrian uprising as a peaceful, spontaneous, and democratic movement being brutally quashed by Assad. And while Assad does indeed rule with an iron fist to maintain the order in a tough neighborhood, in reality, "rebel" violence began in the first days of the “uprising” as Western-trained and funded terrorists began killing police, burning down government buildings, and wreaking havoc at Daraa. The Daraa "protests" had all the appearances of a staged event, were hardly spontaneous and were not peaceful. Daraa did not start as a "peaceful protest" as claimed in the Western media. Several of the "demonstrators" were armed and had fired on the Syrian police: The Syrian police returned fire, killing some of them (a situation that would be repeated in Kiev during the Western-sponsored Maidan Protests). The "demonstrators" included roof top snipers who were targeting the Syrian police (again repeated in Kiev). From the initial casualty figures there were more policemen than demonstrators who were killed. The police force was outnumbered by a well-organized armed gang. It was clear from the initial reports is that many of the demonstrators were not demonstrators but terrorists involved in premeditated acts of murder and arson. The stories of children being tortured by Assad's forces was also just another big lie, in the tradition of Houla, Homs, and Tremesh.

The al-Qaeda target, the original al-Qaeda target, is of course no longer in Afganistan. It is in Syria. But this time it is working with the help of the West. Early on there was a flicker of al-Qaeda in Syria. That flicker quickly grew into a forest fire that is now out of control. It is quite clear from the modus operandi of the “rebels,” quite clear from their rhetoric, that just about every jihadist of the al-qaeda ilk took the road to Damascus (and not to convert). Have you ever read Frankenstein all the way to the end? The monster that was created to fight the Red Army in Afganistan became the enemy on 9/11.

The Western-funded and sponsored Arab "Spring" (Syria is one of the last moves on the chessboard) is one of the greatest blunders in the history of American foreign policy. Or maybe it was designed this way from the beginning. It strange how easily Communists (of the Western variety) and Islamic extremists (Muslim Brotherhood, Al Qaeda, ISIS etc.) can get along when they find common cause.
