Nope.

Play them out for a few more weeks/months and be as lazy as everyone else until they threaten to fire you - then collect unemployment or have another job lined up...
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 19876247

Yep..... That's what has happened to the work ethic in this country. No PRIDE!! A work ethic is something that is independent of who you work for.
 Quoting: scimitar

No its not independent, it should be based totally on how your employer compensates and treats you. You want someone one to bust ass treat them right and make their lives as comfortable financially as the business allows, and you will have a loyal hardworking employee

Re: That's it I've had enough......
Quitting a job was about the most fun I ever had. Our boss gave us some lame-ass excuses about changing our pay week, which boiled down to we weren't going to paid for one day that week.

Our boss gave us a big speech about why we needed to rescue the company cash flow. Then he said: "Anyone have any questions?"

I said: "Yeah, are we getting dicked here?"

Big fat dude of a boss and his face turned blood red. Well worth it. Turns out he was embezzling money from the company. Don't sing me the no-money blues after going out and buying a new king cab truck. I'm not blind or stupid and I didn't care if we was twice my size.
Gen. John B Gordon and Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest were the finest citizen-soldiers birthed in America.

I quit on a job in July. I was being disrespected. I put an end to it. I do have a husband and we have a business, so I wasn't destitute. You need to start looking for a new job right away. But, I don't think staying in an abusive situation is good for you at all, HMM.

I haven't in any job before but I wanna ..... Ive had enough its time to leave my current job but four weeks is a more like a jail term than a leave period ...I just wanna go ...should I?

YOU, and only YOU are responsible for maintaining the balance of power between you and the rest of the semi-sentient beings in this world. You cannot disclaim or delegate that responsibility; it is a function of being a living, breathing "adult" in this world. If you can't manage yourself on those terms, someone else *will* manage you on their terms. Your terms are irrelevant. Buy a rifle; prepare to defend yourself. If you don't, what happens is *your* fault. Period.

No, ethics and pride comes from within. It's not about what another or "employer" will do for YOU.

Seriously?

Where do your values come from? If someone gives me what I believe I deserve, I will do the right thing? Sad ethics if you ask me. If you agree to terms when you are hired, then fulfill those terms. If a notice is required before leaving, give notice. It's simple really.

If you care enough to examine yourself, take a look at what you do when no one else is looking. Better yet, what would you do if you knew you would not be caught and no one would ever know what you did? That is when you will discover your true character.

This thread is reflecting lack of integrity. How sad, and people wonder why our society is breaking down.

Show integrity OP. Fulfill your commitment to your employer. Give your notice and then walk away from the job with the knowledge you did the right thing.

Bull integrity is standing up for yourself. I can't remember how many times I wish I had my ipad or video camera with me. U would b surprised how quickly people straitened up when they r recorded. First, figure out what "your life" really means.

Is it having some fun?
Doing some painting or artwork?
Brewing beer?

Heck, I don't know, but first figure out WHY you want to quit the stay there long enough to make them pay for your new tools to get where you want to go.

Ask yourself a few questions first.
Do you have employable skills?
Will walking out leave a gaping hole in your resume?
What are the employment opportunities like where you live?
Are you willing and able to relocate if needed?
Are you financially able to just walk away from the job?

And, to answer your question, yes- I have walked away from a job without notice. I was very young, had very few financial responsibilities and I had only been there a few months anyway.

Nobody knows your circumstances better than you.

Re: That's it I've had enough......
Yeah, one I will not forget.

Worked at the Toyota Truck plant in San Antonio for 3 months. Good job, but it fukking blowed chunks too.

70% MESKIN, 2/3 OF THEM WERE AS WORTHLESS as the white Millwrights.

Worst bunch was the MESKIN IRON WORKERS.......

Always animosity between Iron Workers and Millwrights.

They want our work but never have the technical expertise to do it.......we can do their work but fall asleep out of mental boredom wrenching the same bolts all day!

Tried to get with one company my whole time there.....

Spent first 2 months figuring out layout that prints had no details for, engineer would not give answers because he didn't have them....always had me doing the brain work and other crews come behind me to copy my fixes....

Whole place was a disaster!!!!

Finally got fired by company vice prez that didn't have the brains to snap a chalk line correctly because i lost pateince with his stupidity and wouldn't teach him everything!!

Such an idiot he was. Atlas out of Kentucky.
I told him off in the parking lot.

Finally got on the 300 ton press with a good company, they made the mistake of putting Iron Worker foreman over me....same deal, I do the thinking, he gets credit.

Treated me with no respect so I walked away from the 300 ton press. Was almost done any ways.

Finally got a call to go to Jim Bridger Coal fired steam turbine in Wyoming for General Electric.

Was happy to leave........Wyoming is beautiful that time of year, February? Early Spring that year too.
30 days there for a regular maintenance of a 250 Megawatt turbine.

One comment about the Mexican workers under me when I was Foreman for one company....before calls of racism!....
I have never seen such little guys work so fuking hard in my life.
Many, many are not worth the cotton in their jeans, just like the rest. But the men under me?

Outstanding men, Iron workers and Millwrights both. Every last one.

Start looking for another job, or source of income. Wait until you have one lined up then give them 2 weeks notice. Unless you don't ever expect to have to use them as a reference in the future, then go ahead and leave w/o notice, but I would have another source of income lined up first.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 54552994

This is good advice, the alternative is to have a large stack of cash set aside for bridge financing. I'm in construction all the jobs are crappy and working with/for assholes is standard. Walking out is standard also so I have learned to keep lots of cash around.

I did, once, when I was in my late twenties. Worked for a large food retail chain with a mandatory 50 hour work week, though it was usually more. Had the laziest supervisor above me who would dump EVERYTHING on me. So when I got to my shift, I had to do his share of the work and mine.

Mind you, I had two small children, a wife, a mortgage, etc. at the time. I finally had enough, one night, gave him an ultimatum, which he didn't heed, then I left.

In hindsight, it was an immature and irrational thing to do. But I did learn a very good lesson. Don't ever tell God "No" because He will make sure you understand that it's HIS will, not yours, that will stand.

I wouldn't leave under those conditions, if I were you. Do the right thing and at least give two weeks notice. If you're a believer, pray first.

Take care.

Don't burn any bridges if you don't have to. Good references are important particularly in a tough job market. If you are not being actively abused give notice and stick it out. You'd be surprised how often something like that (quitting w/out notice) follows you, whether you want it to or not.

Shit that's easy.

Go home and get at least a fifth of Crown or other decent whiskey. If you have a hollow leg, go for the handle.

Get absolutely blottoed.

Write up a manifesto - try to pace yourself so you can at least make a 10 page diatribe.

Go in the next AM venting drive plasma from every pore, interrupt your director in a meeting, and hurl the thing on the conference table, making sure to impart the appropriate amount of backspin.

Leave. Find another job soon.

That's what I did and it worked great for me.

This is one of the BIGGEST THINGS WRONG WITH OUR COUNTRY RIGHT NOW.
Edit: Many of the brightest minds and hardest workers are getting screwed out of what work there is.
We do not necessarily need them. They NEED us.
Fukkem, they do not deserve us any more.

You may recall my whining about my own Millwright Union screwing me out of $150,000 worth of work over the last year and a half?

Repair and rebuild of a small 50 Megawatt water turbine

5 fukking miles from home.

Sat and had a beer with the owner of a local restaurant and Marina Saturday night.

Asked him if any of the Millwrights from the dam project ever spent any time in his establishment drinking or for food.

He said they were a worthless bunch of idiot drunks.

But I already knew that. That job is now 6 months past it's scheduled finish date.

A one year job is now at 20 months......

Talk about sukking up some gravy!
$30 an hour. 5 miles from home.

Motherfukkers.
