FlashBuzzkill User ID: 26255514 United States 08/26/2014 09:23 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Quitting a job was about the most fun I ever had. Our boss gave us some lame-ass excuses about changing our pay week, which boiled down to we weren't going to paid for one day that week. Our boss gave us a big speech about why we needed to rescue the company cash flow. Then he said: "Anyone have any questions?" I said: "Yeah, are we getting dicked here?" Big fat dude of a boss and his face turned blood red. Well worth it. Turns out he was embezzling money from the company. Don't sing me the no-money blues after going out and buying a new king cab truck. I'm not blind or stupid and I didn't care if we was twice my size. Gen. John B Gordon and Gen. Worked at the Toyota Truck plant in San Antonio for 3 months. Good job, but it fukking blowed chunks too. 70% MESKIN, 2/3 OF THEM WERE AS WORTHLESS as the white Millwrights. Worst bunch was the MESKIN IRON WORKERS....... Always animosity between Iron Workers and Millwrights. They want our work but never have the technical expertise to do it.......we can do their work but fall asleep out of mental boredom wrenching the same bolts all day! Tried to get with one company my whole time there..... Spent first 2 months figuring out layout that prints had no details for, engineer would not give answers because he didn't have them....always had me doing the brain work and other crews come behind me to copy my fixes.... Whole place was a disaster!!!! Finally got fired by company vice prez that didn't have the brains to snap a chalk line correctly because i lost pateince with his stupidity and wouldn't teach him everything!! Such an idiot he was. Atlas out of Kentucky. I told him off in the parking lot. Finally got on the 300 ton press with a good company, they made the mistake of putting Iron Worker foreman over me....same deal, I do the thinking, he gets credit. Treated me with no respect so I walked away from the 300 ton press. Was almost done any ways. Finally got a call to go to Jim Bridger Coal fired steam turbine in Wyoming for General Electric. Was happy to leave........Wyoming is beautiful that time of year, February? Early Spring that year too. 30 days there for a regular maintenance of a 250 Megawatt turbine. One comment about the Mexican workers under me when I was Foreman for one company....before calls of racism!.... I have never seen such little guys work so fuking hard in my life. Many, many are not worth the cotton in their jeans, just like the rest. But the men under me? Outstanding men, Iron workers and Millwrights both. Every last one. Wait until you have one lined up then give them 2 weeks notice. Unless you don't ever expect to have to use them as a reference in the future, then go ahead and leave w/o notice, but I would have another source of income lined up first. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 54552994 This is good advice, the alternative is to have a large stack of cash set aside for bridge financing. Ive had enough its time to leave my current job but four weeks is a more like a jail term than a leave period ...I just wanna go ...should I? I did, once, when I was in my late twenties. Worked for a large food retail chain with a mandatory 50 hour work week, though it was usually more. Had the laziest supervisor above me who would dump EVERYTHING on me. So when I got to my shift, I had to do his share of the work and mine. Mind you, I had two small children, a wife, a mortgage, etc. at the time. I finally had enough, one night, gave him an ultimatum, which he didn't heed, then I left. In hindsight, it was an immature and irrational thing to do. But I did learn a very good lesson. Don't ever tell God "No" because He will make sure you understand that it's HIS will, not yours, that will stand. I wouldn't leave under those conditions, if I were you. Do the right thing and at least give two weeks notice. If you're a believer, pray first. Take care. |
