Commandment number 7:

Thou shalt NOT commit adultery! hf
 Quoting: ShowGirls

That only applies to married women.

Lol.....And men!
 Quoting: ShowGirls

John 8 a woman is caught in the act of adultery but the man wasn't being condemned. Married women are not supposed to commit adultery, it doesn't apply to men. Jesus didn't tell the man that was caught with her to sin no more because it's not considered a sin for men.
 Quoting: nahkers

No moran, the man caught in adultery was very obviously one of the pharisées so they decided to let him off the hook, he part of their brotherhood.

There's a reason call the pharisées the children of the devil, that is most likely one of the many reasons.

Not so

I can bring more verses, these two should suffice.

Men can and do commit adultery.

Proverbs 6:32-34

King James Version (KJV)

32 But whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul.

33 A wound and dishonour shall he get; and his reproach shall not be wiped away.

34 For jealousy is the rage of a man: therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance.

This verse says it all.

Matthew 5:27-28

King James Version (KJV)

27 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:

28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

I appreciate you trying but the example you posted is only with a woman, still no mention of committing adultery with a married man. Take note that it goes on to talk about a married woman.

This is one reason why when my husband is angry with a women (maybe through work), if he knows she is married he will never say anything nasty about what he's going to do to her, but to her daughter or sister instead since he doesn't know whether they are married. A married women is never supposed to be disrespected sexually.

Nah I'm confused, are you saying that if a single woman made your husband angry? He would sexually disrespect her?

Also, if your husband believed in the same God that I do, he would know that to commit adultery is a sin for any sex....hf

Jesus explicitly shows that our obedience must include obeying the Ten Commandments.
"Now behold, one came and said to Him, 'Good Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life?' So He said to him, 'Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments.'
"He said to Him, 'Which ones?'"
In answer Jesus listed a number of the Ten Commandments as well as a summary statement:
• "You shall not murder."

• "You shall not commit adultery."

• "You shall not steal."

• "You shall not bear false witness."

• "Honor your father and your mother."

• "You shall love your neighbor as yourself" (Matthew:19:16-19).

Obedience to God begins with accepting the Ten Commandments as the permanent standard for our values and behavior. But our obedience must extend beyond just keeping the Ten Commandments.
Jesus also said: "Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill [from the Greek pleroo, meaning to 'fill to the full']. For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled [from a different Greek word, ginomai, used in the sense of 'come to pass'].
"Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven" (Matthew:5:17-19).
Sin is disregarding, refusing to do, what God tells us to do. Jesus tells us He had no intention of annulling or abolishing God's commands and that anyone who presumes to teach that is in grave spiritual danger...

It's a cultural thing I suppose, when he say's he's going to do something nasty to a single woman but he always respects married women and would never cross those bounds because of her husband.

My husband is my Lord so I don't expect you to believe in him, he's an Atheist.

There are some verses about divorce you might want to look into, a man is not supposed to divorce his wife unless she commits adultery. If he divorces her without those grounds and remarries, both of them commit adultery. It's all about marriage for the woman and had nothing to do with single women.

I wasn't disagreeing with you, just letting you know what I know what I believe and the reasons why. I can't disagree with your thoughts, those are yours.

I don't think our beliefs will ever be universal because all that matters is our home life. I really don't care what people do outside my doors, as long as they keep their beliefs out of my house because they are not welcome to change my husband's authority over me.

But I have a personal question for you. Let's say your husband believed in something you disagreed with because you learned something outside of what he has taught you (morally speaking), would you disrespect him and not allow his head to rule yours?

 Quoting: Oath

I appreciate you trying but the example you posted is only with a woman, still no mention of committing adultery with a married man. Take note that it goes on to talk about a married woman.

This is one reason why when my husband is angry with a women (maybe through work), if he knows she is married he will never say anything nasty about what he's going to do to her, but to her daughter or sister instead since he doesn't know whether they are married. A married women is never supposed to be disrespected sexually.
 Quoting: nahkers

It says he destroys his own soul, as in the man is committing adultery. The man is the one married here and is to blame. The verse about vengeance is saying the man will not be spared at judgement the day of vengeance. He sinned, Unless of coarse he repented of the sin.

The second verses says who ever, that is anyone who is married that looks upon a woman, any woman, there is no distinction here about if she is married or not. If they lust after her they have committed adultery in their heart.

There is no getting around this, if you are married and lust after someone you just sinned within your heart. Therefore if you engage in the physical act it is adultery.

There is no getting around this, if you are married and lust after someone you just sinned within your heart. Therefore if you engage in the physical act it is adultery.
 Quoting: Oath

Because she is a married woman. I don't see what you see in the second verse because it doesn't mention any women, but a married woman with a jealous husband.

You can't change what we believe in my household so you are just wasting your time. My husband trumps you.

That is fine, if you do not believe the scriptures just say so. This is a public forum, people are going to disagree. We have that gift of free thought. I will however point to the truth of scripture if you see the truth or not.

We will have to agree to disagree sweetie hf

The world wouldn't be quite as entertaining if we all thought the same..
 Quoting: ShowGirls

I wasn't disagreeing with you, just letting you know what I know what I believe and the reasons why. I can't disagree with your thoughts, those are yours.

I don't think our beliefs will ever be universal because all that matters is our home life. I really don't care what people do outside my doors, as long as they keep their beliefs out of my house because they are not welcome to change my husband's authority over me.

But I have a personal question for you. Let's say your husband believed in something you disagreed with because you learned something outside of what he has taught you (morally speaking), would you disrespect him and not allow his head to rule yours?
 Quoting: nahkers

Of course I wouldn't disrespect him sweetheart, but I wouldn't allow him to rule my head either.

Putting the bible aside, if a married man feels the need to go and have sex with another woman other than his wife, then in my eyes, he truly cannot love her or respect her.
When you marry a woman, it's a commitment, you want her and her alone for the rest of your life, your best friend, your companion, your lover, the other half of your heart.....Those vows really mean shit....

If he isn't committed to being faithful to that woman then he shouldn't marry her....

Any man that marries a woman under the terms that she allows him mistresses or other women on the side is a mind controlling, sleazy, dirtbag in my eyes and is obviously only out for his own filthy needs.

I agree with what you said earlier, a woman should keep her man sexually happy, and if that is truly the case, then he should have no need to look for other puss puss hf

I do believe the scriptures, hence why my husband has authority over me and not you. I don't think God would want a married woman to take the advice of a strange man over her husband when it comes to moral matters. That would cause a wedge between my husband and I and what God has joined together no man can put asunder. But I'm sure it's easy to sway other married women to conform to your beliefs, but not this one, maybe God didn't join those easily swayed women together.
When you find a piece of shit along side the road and you poke it with a stick, what do you expect to find inside of it, gold?
No, it's just going to stink more.

You don't have to live your life according to the bible, it's just recommended.

God comes first in my life, above all. He tells me to use scripture for correction, reproof and rebuke. I do not hate you or your husband, i am just trying to do what God requires of me.

Is it an attack on your belief? You might see it that way, it is for concern, nothing more. I can be harsh and a bit over persistent at times but that is a fault within me.

I understand that my husband is my husband, and I respect him for that as the bible says I should...BUT, he is NOT my Lord....Jesus is my Lord! hf

I have my own brain to think, I don't expect my husband to think for me or control me....you sound like you allow your husband to control you, that you won't or cannot think for yourself...

I couldn't be with a man that thought it was ok to commit adultery with another woman...lol...

That's just so sad to think that some women would fall for that kind of mind playing sleaze ball!

In a way it is an attack on my belief because you are in no position to go over my husbands head.

I don't take it personally though, I'm sure you mean well but just need to work on boundaries when it comes to married women.

My husband doesn't think it's ok to cause a woman to commit adultery either.

When a woman obeys her husband, she is supposed to call him her Lord.

What does it matter if you gain the whole world and lose your own soul?

Perhaps God is blessing you with a spirit of repentance
