Russia entered Crimea with an army of unmarked servicemen.
It also used military personnel at it's base to secure krimea and organize a referendum that unsurprisingly went Russia's way.

This followed the ousting of Yanukovich in Kiev after euromaidan turned violent.

So it is not how you describe it and it only happened in March.

Following the krimea situation, Russia actively supported unrest and uprising in Donetsk, Lugansk and Kharkov.

They did this by using their local agents and local ukroRussian mobsters to pay gangs of people, so called titutshki to storm public buildings and put up barricades.

Then followed the sending of Strelkov to the area and the taking of sloviansk. This was the first active military move by Russia albeit by a small force of mercenaries and special ops.

Eventually they lost sloviansk and were going to lose Lugansk as well.
So they fired Strelkov and send in the troops.

That is what actually happened.

Now the Russian troops are building the landbridge to Crimea as well as securing the sea of Asov.

We can assume the orders are to cut off Ukraine from the Black Sea all together. Coming from Rostov in the east and transnistria in the west.
