On the Kennedy assassination, I too believe that it was the death knell of the Republic, as it was such a devastating event that it undermined the very foundations of our country and the trust of it's people. I have often referred to 1963 as the start of decline, with Kennedy's death, the Hippy Rebellion movement, social moral decline, etc.

If you get a chance, research the assassination of Julius Caesar of Rome. A lot of people don't realize that even though a large percentage of Rome's populace were not happy with Caesar's governing, they were infuriated and morally destroyed when they found out that people inside their government were the ones who killed him.

Actually, Bush put many things into motion to make it easier for 0blah-blah to effect the change. I was still in uniform when I saw the big pivot happen. It's why I bailed out of the Army, and why I hold such a hard line on certain topics.
