Weed and the liver
Does eating cannabis cookies, vaping and eating the oil damage the liver?

I have 1st grade cirrhosis and don't drink.

I read some studies on pubmed smoking weed apparently aggrevates fibrosis and other studies say it might not damage the liver.

Does anyone know, if weed is safe for someone with liver damage?

ummmm, this might not be the best place to ask that. I wouldn't rely on medical advice from a bunch of stoners.... Obviously they will be giving you a very partial view of the situation.

So much contradictory info out there.
This study for instance claims it aggrevates fibrosis.

OK then good luck to you. I'd at least go talk to a doctor and get his opinion. Maybe go to one of those marijuana doctors that prescribe those medical marijuana cards and ask him.

ask your body, it wont lie.

try a small amount and see what reaction you have....

as far as the comment about asking stoners... a lot of people are juicing fresh leaves now, which wont get you stoned but you will still get all the medical benefits.

just get a juicer and use fresh marijuana leaves, it will only get you stoned if you age it or dry it.

Oh, I see you'd rather take advice from someone who has absolutely no experience with cannabis. That makes sense, sure why not. Makes absolutely no sense at all.

Thanks for the input guys keep it coming.

Of course I consider my doctors advice, but he was also the guy who had me on steroids for a decade and overlooked the hepatitis I had was caused by milk and gluten allergies.
I trusted Big Pharma for over a decade but its because of their mistakes I ended up with compensated cirrhosis? So these days I only trust my gut and my own research rather than someone fresh from school just dictating what the Rockefeller Pharma textbook taught him.

Re: Weed and the liver
In patients with liver disease or liver damage, marijuana can increase said condition. The liver breaks down almost everything in the body, including intoxicants. As the liver uses more resource to scrub the blood of THC and other harmful substances the liver enzymes are overloaded, leading to extended liver damage. A healthy person with a healthy liver will most likely never see a life threatening condition brought on by ingesting marijuana. However, if you were an alcoholic, or have liver disease, marijuana will increase your risk of speeding up the damage done. The ultimate result being death. The amount of time that takes is only determined by damage present along with a laundry list of other factors. If you are a recovering alcoholic with severe to moderate liver damage. My advice would be to stay away from all intoxicants for the remainder of your life. The liver is an amazing organ that can heal, and reverse some of the damage. Giving you a longer life span. If you continue using intoxicants however, be prepared for the consequences.

I could care less why it's illegal. The question is, is it going to hurt his liver even more that it already is. He needs to go get REAL ADVICE from an actual doctor. Whatever though... It's not my liver.

Hey bro sounds like the drugs you were on hurt your liver.
There are good herbs to heal liver....just Google..many herbs
used in Germany for years. They work. Cannabis being
a flowering herb may or may not be helpful.
