Anonymous Coward User ID: 43489392 United States 08/31/2014 04:26 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It depends on what kind of prepper you are. If you are the urbanized store keeper type (storing up for the Big Event) your going to have it much harder than the 'Survive the natural world' kind. A lot of the Eco-friendly, back to nature type people, you know organic gardeners, self-sufficiency, sustainable living, off griders also have a tendency to be preppers. As example, myself. about 20 years ago I started getting a lot more serious about things like what I was putting in my body (my food), and more aware of my impact on the environment and how much energy I was using and wasting in order to live the American Lifestyle. I started out looking for alternatives in order to be more Eco-friendly and that just lead me to survivalist and prepper websites and other resources. That lead to me being much more aware of the potentials for distaster, and prepping and living more eco-aware just works well with each other. How? Well both tend to be interested in alternative energy, you know, wind, solar, distilling alcohol for fuel for the car... Both tend to consider long term food planning, gardening, hunting, fishing. Both tend to seek to be away from the urban and suburban areas. |

Not a doom and gloom person or unbalanced "crazie". Quoting: Forever1 49350354 Grow foods, have supplies, I own properties. I'm a formal model and "city girl" so people tend to be surprised I prep. Don't go to bars, don't date around, not interested in dating sites. There are a lot of good people out there, but I think the comment about prep together from the beginning or it will be unbalanced holds true. Maybe better off single :) Hmm, in that case, I'm prepared to be naked...a lot. Sign me up sweetheart. |

Two, city girls aren't compatible with the cornbread, meat and tators types, I've yet to meet a city girl that had any of the same interests that I do, doesn't matter what she looks like, city girls are often needy and want to be seen, you don't get that out in the sticks. In my area, last year a community garden center was started and lots of like minded people go there. It's all around, just get involved |

I been contemplating items that would be in high demand or extremely useful if the ole' grocery store ever stopped being what it is. Bleach, salt and plastic bags are excellent choices to stock up on. Salt for flavor and for its curative properties with meat (just add smoke). Some parts of the country, salt would be difficult to obtain. Heck tons of spices set aside would be good for barter or use for that matter. Bleach for its use as a cleaning/disinfectant/sanitation and water additive for purification. Plastic bags, for their hygiene and/or storage/gathering purposes. (These three items would be gold in the right situation....or, just keep enough on hand for yourself.) Then of course, there is the need for bulk dried food, etc. etc. etc..... BTW.....TP is a nearly useless, dumb item to stock up on and had to laugh at one guys claim that he had a warehouse full for SHTF. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 54692991 United States 09/01/2014 11:40 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Well, if you can stomach their religious beliefs, Mormons are usually quite kind and hellofa preppers. Perhaps you need to relocate to happier "hunting grounds". Utah? Idaho? Alaska? Nothing wrong with a lady "strategically" positioning herself for a "win". Bullshit with that idea of "you're single because you're damaged". I didn't meet the love of my life until 40, he recently passed away and now I'm a 55 year old widowed disabled prepper. You think you've got trouble meeting a man? |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 61134973 United States 09/01/2014 12:21 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I was very lucky. My wife knew I was a prepper when we were dating and she just thought I was crazy. She didn't participate but I think she enjoyed the comfort of a safety net. I have now converted her into a full blown prepper with me. Now she has her LTC and comes back from the grocery store with extra canned goods and such every time she goes shopping. She is also really into gardening and canning now. We dated for 10 years, so it was a very long process to convert her lol. Would be really difficult just meeting someone. |

Do you have any ideas how a single prepper girl who is already established can find another well established prepper and not someone who is new to prepping or has no idea what prepping evolves?
