I've had a chip on my shoulder against feminism ever since the college faculty tried to shove their pathetic political views into every single discussion and every single class at the school I went to. Really resented it then and still resent it now.

I'm a big Camille Paglia fan though. I like it that she's pissed off at academia for the same reasons I am.

Feminism was supposed to mean a single woman, especially a self-supporting widow with kids, could get a bank loan or buy a home without a man's signature. There was a time in America when this was not true.

Feminism was created in part so that a woman did not have to stay in a marriage where her husband was physically abusing her and her kids on a regular basis.

Feminism's originators knew that some women were not a good fit for marriage, perhaps because they saw their mothers trapped in miserable relationships, yet they could be very successful nurses, teachers, office managers, etc. Therefore they should not be repeatedly shamed by society for their choices.

Feminism's purpose has been stolen by those who don't have any idea of how life used to be for many.

I am thankful for what 60s, 70s, 80s feminists did to bring light to equal rights and opportunities for both men AND women.

However, a lot of these "feminists" of today are out to lunch. It seems they want women to have MORE rights than men. And, that's not ok.

I'm for EQUAL rights for ALL.
