Multiculturalism can and does work as the United States is a prime example. Our country is made up of immigrants from all over the world that came here and worked hard, learned the English language and abided by our laws. They also kept their natural born identity and shared their culture with everyone else.

Now that being said, Multiculturalism does not work when said immigrants (or intruders) (and no this is not about just one race) come to this country, refuse to learn the language, demand we make over our country to suit their needs and impose lawsuits, assaults, murders, rapes, ect. on the American people and we have say its all ok as not to offend anyone.
Why the hell does an American have to walk on eggshells now so one group or the other isn't offended? Why as an American do I have to learn the cultures and the languages of these people so I can assimilate???? Why as an American do we have to pay with our tax dollars to house and feed these people? Why as an American do we have to alter our lifestyles and our cultures?

Most definitely multiculturalism has failed. The evidence is everywhere and irrefutable. IT. DOES. NOT. WORK.

The only people who dispute that are those who 'wish' it would have worked and have thus far been unable to come to terms with reality and accept that it has indeed failed. In theory it sounds great. In practice, we've learned otherwise. The real question is where to go from here?

I seem to be reading a lot of Brit bashing and bullshit on this thread so far.

Multiculturalism has worked successfully in the UK for years, we've had Chinese, Indians, Pakistani's and Middle Eastern living happily alongside the general white population for 100+ years and it worked just fine. It's only gone askew in the last 20 or so years since the UK Government allow anyone in and gave them money for nothing. It's our own system that has screwed up the Multiculturalism in the UK, it's shown people that they can live here for free. Then we took in refugees from war torn Countries by the 1000s, built housing estates just for them and just left them to it. No help, no one to help them integrate into society, Somali people left to do what Somali people do, and that caused a lot of problems. It wasn't the Somali people's fault and it wasn't the British people's fault.

Our government just keep failing, no matter who is in power, they are just interested in votes rather than what is correct for the UK citizens and the ones that they allow in. Now there are dangerous ghetto's in almost every major city in the UK.

Multiculturalism worked just fine before New Labour took over the reigns 20 years ago, that was the beginning of the end for Britain and we are on a serious downward spiral that most of the British public didn't agree to.
