May well be that the West isn't concerned with history repeating itself (ground offensive stalling due to winter) because they're planning for a short, decisive engagement. And such an engagement would almost certainly involve a regional nuclear exchange.

So, it's like this:

Put a few NATO (Some Euros [not all contribute], Americans, Canadian[?]) troops in harms way, and if Russia should attack, it would oblige NATO (some of it's members, not all adequately contribute to our common denfense) to go to war against Russia. Such a war would sooner than later involve nukes. NATO has no nukes of it's own, rather the US, UK and France would in theory contribute their nukes for our common NATO defense against a nuke armed enemy.

I don't know what the dolution is with the NATO vs Russia problem. I do believe those closest to the problem (our [US] western European allies and friends) should pick up their game, and be willing to take greater ridks,including economic, in dealing with Ukraine and Russia. I think there's too much double dealing going on. This is possible because of the theoretical backup involving US,UK, and French nukes. I find the whole thing unacceptable.

Russia has a mighty nuclear arsenal. This is reality. It probably wasn't prudent to aggressively isolate and surround Russia, and encourage instability in Ukraine. I feel ultimately sorry for average Ukrainians (and Russians) who have been adversely affected by all this. I'm afraid Ukraine is in a very poor situation right now.

This all started with the attack on Ossetia several years ago.

Georgians blew up a few buildings full of Russian soldiers, so Russia really punished them and defended the Ossetians who were being ethnically persecuted as caucasians or treated like they were not the same.

So jews in US took the side of Georgia because Georgia is full of many jews. Georgia has ancient jewish community, but see jews take Georgia's side out of simple minded racism, probably most of those high level jews don't even know anything specific, all they know is Georgia = jews, so must ......defeat....nazis.... or some simplistic racist primal mentality.

But yes, in 2008 Russia demanded the US back off and warned if they went to aid Georgia, they would nuke the US.

This is because when the JewSA has the Chutzpah to go defend Georgia after massacring Russians, then yeah, Russians will nuke your Chutzpah.

Agreed, future of Ukraine looks bad. They might split or there will be no more Ukraine.

Russia knows what will happen, US & RU are afraid of nuclear war and everyone else. No one really benefits from a nuclear war that's why Russia know they can occupy and expand their territory without consequence from the west (As seen already).
But I really hope US & NATO takes this chance and unite together to defend our rights as nations and stop this "territory war" without nuclear weapons.
My stance is on neither sides but I do feel that Russia should be somewhat punished.

After all that has happened, I'm afraid there's little chance of a warming of US/EU, Russia relations. I don't think it's possible for everyone to hecome good buddies, at least as long as Putin is in power. That leaves Russia more-so than NATO/EU/US, in the most difficult position. Where does it go after 'winning' in Ukraine? I assume it tries to create some kind of alternate economic 'system' where it can parlay it's mighty military/nuclear force, where it can be a 'superpower' again. This is happening with BRICS, but I don't hold much water with BRICS being anything on the scale or influence of the current US/EU/NATO/World Bank/IMF Order. And it requires acquiesce of China and India. China and India both know their interests with 'The West' far outweigh their interests with Russia.

Nature abhors a vacuum. This is true among human relations,also. As it currently stands, the 'world order' is essentially controlled by a series of 'superpowers', the most important are:

USA; USA is a 'superpower' in pretty much every sphere, including the most important spheres: Economic, military, and energy. It is currently the only true world superpower.

EU: The EU is a mighty (mist mighty) economic superppower. However, the EU is not an energy superppower, in fact it is energy poor. The EU is also not a military superpower. It's ultimate military might depends on (400-500) British/French nukes, NATO, and of course the US nuclear and military umbrella.

China: China is an economic superppower (of sorts), but bear in mind China is still relatively speaking very poor, most Chinese people on mainland China live in poverty. China is also not a military superpower on par with the USA/NATO and Russia.

BRICS: They are nascent. In their infant stage, and no match for competeing powers and influences.

Japan: Japan has a huge GDP, but MANY setious problems. Neither is it a true military superpower (no nukes), and is energy and resource poor.

This is how it stands in 2014.

Sorry Russia! Russia is a military superpower due to it's massive nuclear arsenal. Russia is no where near an economic superpower. Russia is an energy and resource superpower. But Russia has a very low GDP, has horrible demographics, and has a population much, much smaller than the US, EU, or China and India. Russia was a world
superpower under communism. It's challenge is to supplant the now extinct communist system with another system where it can be a 'superpower'.
