How else did Zeus slay Typhon, a Drakon of a hundred heads, then by battling the monsters fire with the fire of lightening ? He threw one for each head of the serpent; the hero-gods that slay Drakon with thunder

But only drakon can fight drakon - Zeus himself earned the form of a serpent by slaying one.

....this may be a tad off topic, but, you ever wondered why the 13th sign of the Zodiac, Ophiuchus, was 'kept secret' for so long?

It was near the end of 2012 that I first noticed, and read about it. I sometimes say that 'my number' is 787, due my birthday being on Dec. 8th and my identification with Ophiuchus.... I thought it rather bizarre to note that the 8th of December was precisely in the middle of the Ophiuchus astrological timespan.

....my apologies if I've told you that before. tounge

a lightening blade must make things lighter right? maybe by cutting pieces off things or making holes in things? that's how you lighten something!

Re: Who Can Wield The Lightening Blade?
I disagree that chaos is a joke. I do agree that much of it is ill-defined, but that's part of what makes it effective.

Chaos is about change, just as the universe itself is in a perpetual state of change and motion. The magickian alters reality by exerting his will upon it. He recognizes that the 'game rules' of the material world are not fixed, but flexible. He understand that the fundamental nature of reality is consciousness, and that by exercising the muscle of his own consciousness, reality can be changed.

The principles of chaos magick do not adhere strictly to one school of wisdom. As you mentioned, John Dee's Enochian magick is a flawed system, and an adept that trains closely by its principles without recognizing that flaw is in danger of corruption or at the very least his results will be inconsistent or lacking. And therein lies the beauty in the school of chaos - it does not imply that the adept blindly ignores traditional schools...but instead, he schools himself in all of them, becoming educated enough to understand their fundamentals - but going a step further, towards unification.

When we become dogmatic about specific systems, we become blind to the flaws of those systems. Being able to realistically appraise different theories, and recognize their merits and their flaws, is essential. Consider the well known initiates of the ancient mystery tradition.. Plato and Pythagoras among them. They studied from Egypt to the far East, and their wisdom was born not of allegiance to once system but from understanding the underlying truths that bridged between all.

Those who practice Chaos magick understand the nature and power of beliefs and symbols. They understand that the purpose of a belief is not that it reflects objective truth, but that it serves the believer - as a conceptual tool, as a magickal tool. And they are willing to discard and adopt beliefs at will, depending on the situation they are needed for. Chaos Magickans allow their intuition to guide their art, utilizing the magickal system that is best suited for task at hand. And because they understand a wide variety of symbols, legends, and traditions of mystery, they are able to break the rules - to combine and reconfigure.

All have access to the vast library of collective consciousness. The chaos magickan forms his own magickal tools, ones crafted especially for him, because he knows the elements, geometry, and symbolism that connects ancient archetypes.

He sees the fractal pattern of the source constantly reconfiguring itself with the skeleton of geometric forms based on sacred mathematical constants ..... the void, the zero that equals infinity, the paradox of the singularity that is equivalent to polarity.
 Quoting: Caylus Ark

this is a great post. people tend to underestimate the power of intuition and sheer force of will. and while i think its certainly important to understand the many different traditions and teachings, symbols, etc. it also helps to be totally free of those, in a way, so that they dont create any restrictions or anything. i guess what i mean, is that its important to be aware of and understand different disciplines, while becoming attached to none.

That which is to be destroyed is immaterial, not a physical thing, but a system of patterned and established norms. The Tower is to crumble, the will ignites the lightening energy. Lightening destroys the Tower allowing a new fractal to emerge

I reckon that perhaps there is a 'evolutionary' effect inherent here.... perhaps the new fractal is formed from the most 'expansive' pieces of the old

And we thusly build new understanding on top of that.

hmm

Maybe consciousness 'eats' chaos.... and this is why it has become so relevant to us.... after all, chaos means nothing (if entropy is to be believed, then it means not even any potential) except to a conscious (/living) entity: the living entity then proceeds to attempt destroy what is more chaotic than itself so it may 'eat it' and thus increase the order inherent to it via homeostasis.

? I'm not sure that makes sense....
