Previously Unpublished Chapter From Roald Dahl's "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory"
Fans of Roald Dahl’s children’s classic Charlie and the Chocolate Factory can finally enjoy a lost chapter deemed too subversive to print.

The work, which ran in the Guardian on Saturday, was found in the deceased author’s papers and was originally intended to be the fifth chapter.

In this early draft, which is undated, instead of five Golden Ticket winners there were 10,

with familiar characters such as Augustus Gloop given different monikers, such as Augustus Pottle.

This unpublished chapter appears to begin after Gloop's mishap in the chocolate river.

Also revealed, Charlie originally went into the factory with his mother rather than his grandfather.

THE CHAPTER

The remaining eight children, together with their mothers and fathers, were ushered out into the long white corridor once again.

"I wonder how Augustus Pottle and Miranda Grope are feeling now?" Charlie Bucket asked his mother.

"Not too cocky, I shouldn't think" Mrs Bucket answered. "Here – hold on to my hand, will you, darling.
That's right. Hold on tight and try not to let go.
And don't you go doing anything silly in here, either, you understand,
or you might get sucked up into one of those dreadful pipes yourself, or something even worse maybe. Who knows?"

Little Charlie took a tighter hold of Mrs Bucket's hand as they walked down the long corridor. Soon they came to a door on which it said:

THE VANILLA FUDGE ROOM

"Hey, this is where Augustus Pottle went to, isn't it?" Charlie Bucket said.

"No", Mr Wonka told him. "Augustus Pottle is in Chocolate Fudge. This is Vanilla. Come inside, everybody, and take a peek."

They went into another cavernous room, and here again a really splendid sight met their eyes....

I've never read an "exegesis" on the Dahl's novel, but it's very clear to me that in this bizarre allegory Wonka is God/Christ scratching

Seems to be an unedited draft. There is a reason why it was never published. Not a big fan of posthumus publications without author's consent.

There were indeed reasons why it was never published -
- Dahl himself took years to complete the book and picked it up with fresh perspectives each time he came back to it.
- His agent implored him to size down the amount of children receiving Golden Tickets. Mainly to speed the story along.

I catch your drift, but it's still interesting as a document-
as it allows us some insight to a book/film that influenced us in our early years.

Ha! Never thought of it that way!
As Creator, he certainly crafted interesting demises for the naughtiest of the flock.
Your post got me into thinking about locating just such a breakdown and found this one to be interesting:

You'r welcome. Yeah, it's more bizarre than the own novel to consider it as an evangelical allegory or som'thing, but it Works for me!
