Medical Tours anyone?
Take a flight to India, have a vacation, get healed, then go back, and you still will save over $50,000.

I'd MUCH MUCH rather go to South Korea
as a medical tourist.

This is what happens when deregulation and the "anything goes for the wealthy" policy you rightwingers love so much gets implemented.

Why would insurance companies agree to pay all those other inflated hospital costs?. How could it possibly be in their best interest to do so?. I just don't get it.

Because they spread the costs out over all their customers. This is why families pay several thousand in premiums each year plus extra for deductibles before they even pay on claims - which are then paid at only 70 or 80 percent. There are a lot of us getting mighty tired of paying $5K out of our pockets before insurance pays its first dime in our own healthcare. We are paying for all those idiots who are smokers, obese with diabetes, share drug needles and contract Hep c, etc.

Note that there are drugs which are old - such as Lasinopril for high blood pressure - which cost next to nothing. Their costs have long been recovered. Companies want to make hay while the sun shines - and before the generics take over the market.

Same thing with dental....I have implanted bridgework that my local dentist would charge over 12000.00 for (1000.00 per tooth)....I get the whole thing done in Mexico.....for 2200.00 including the round trip air fare and hotel for the 4 days it take to get them.

Not only do I save money....I save so much time.....4 days in Mexico....6 months here

Meanwhile Big Pharma and Insurance make enough profits to shower politicians with billions of dollars.

Billions of dollars coming out of consumers pockets.

How do you like your money being used to prop up big government

My first thought was "because depopulation", but if TPTB really wanted to depopulate they would make these drugs WAY more expensive in a place like India (where the population is huge).

And that leads me to think "because profits". More people in India means they can offer medications at lower prices and still make a great profit. Plus the purchasing power of the average U.S. patient is much greater than in India.

Over here all pharma drugs are free, everybody is mandatorily insured.
Only tranquilizers require a small fee, so a Xanax supply for one month costs you 15 bucks or so.

But I hate drugs, I had been on steroids for 12 years, it ruined my life. While I later found out my autoimmune disease was easily fixed after detoxing gluten from my food and body.
