10% of Workers in US go to Work High on Pot
[link to www.cnbc.com]

10% of American workers smoke pot before going to work each day. Wow, that a big number. Article also claims 2/3 of people think their co workers are high on the job. The tests we currently have detect if the drug was used in the last 30 days and not right before someone reports in for work. Think of all the potential problems with people high on the job if they are an air traffic controller, school bus driver or a cop, help!

That's crazy to think a cop high on weed isn't going to accidently shot you or drive around being silly and handing out speeding tickets. I can challenge my speeding ticket because the cop was stoned out of his mind as I could smell it on him. I demand he under go a drug test.

What's lunch break like in Colorado? Can people get stoned on their lunch break and go back to work?

I would imagine that the numbers are much higher and suggest that weed is the last drug employers should be worried about.

It's the uppers that cause real problems.

They're more expensive, which means you have a higher instance of employee theft to pay for their dope, they make people aggressive and they are harder to test for because they don't stay in your system that long.

Also, they are way easy to come by.

If people want to smoke a little weed to get through the day, more power to them I say.

I've tried the stuff in the past, and it never did anything for me. The people who it 'works' for seem to be pretty happy and chill, though.

I could do with some of that laid-backness.

But it is what it is.

Employers need to stop fucking trying to live their employees lives for them.

We may all just be little more than cogs in the machine, but we should be able to make the best of it and do what we need to do to cope with this existence.

Pre-urinalysis testing days, the under 30 group for the entire nation, 80-90% went to work smoked up, smoked throughout the day, smoked until they passed out at home, every day. $20 ounces.

Being happy and laid back is great for most jobs but not for others like an air traffic controller. No room for any mistakes there. I wouldn't want the school bus driver stoned on weed to be driving our kids around either. Other jobs it really doesn't matter.

FWIW, One bong rip gets you "up" within seconds.

...Then only lasts 1 to 1.5 hours.

Some people drive an hour or 2 (in metro areas from bedroom communities) into work.

So yep, they may toke before leaving, but by the time they're at work, or within an hour of work, they're "back to normal."

Of course, there's probably people running out at lunch and hitting again, but... again... 1-2 hours later, they're "back to normal".

Just sayin'.

Also, from the article:
The data analyzed the marijuana and prescription drug habits of 534 Americans
 Quoting: OP Article

So.. of the 534 Americans surveyed, 9.7% fessed up.

Of the 534 Americans surveyed, were ANY of them Air Traffic Controllers?

Doubtful.

I'd quit being a worry-wart.
