A couple of holes in your theory.

1:Why did they not simply replace the cube in the nearly 5 yrs it was gone?If they have enough money to build the monument,surely replacing a small cube would be no problem.

2: Why was the new cube STILL not put back in,for several months after the old one was recovered?

3: Why bother putting a vague 20-14 on the entire face covering of a tiny cube?I don't think people would really care if the cube was part of the old monument,or a replacement.

Engraving 2014 just to show a tiny cube was replaced that year;seems quite irrelevant in the whole scheme,of the monument.

4: You don't think it quite convenient that the so called 'vandals';passed over doing many other typical vandal pranks,and instead cut out the cornerstone?

Not necessarily... the area is known for its granite supplies, from what I've read, which is part of the reason the stones may have been erected there. There are probably lots of local places you can go to get something simple commissioned. This isn't a huge piece of granite, and a simple block with the year engraved into it isn't a very suspicious request. Whoever wanted to plop something up there didn't have to go to great lengths to get it made.

But I think he's onto something. The bible repeats itself and ends much as it began. I believe that verse will reoccur before the end of the year. I believed that before I read this thread. I don't know. Anyone could of brought a ladder and placed a cube in that space. It's been vandalized before as shown in the video.

The cube doesn't even look like it belongs there. I guess someone failed to measure the depth accurately.

Thanks to this thread I have learnt a lot of the Georgia Guidestones in a few hours. Anyway, I think that with the few information one can gather about this missing cube on the web we can say that:

1- The cube seems to have been meant to be replaceable from the beginning. If you do a custom search for images in Google Images, restricting the date range, the oldest pictures are from 2008, and the ones of enough resolution allow to see the cube was already there, so, at least one can say that probably the cube was there all the time, and nobody noticed before.

2- The search for images of 2009 seems to confirme it was in this year when it was taken out.

3- The cube seems to have been recovered in 2013, as per the Elberton news report. It was not replaced inmediately, it seems, at least no image search nor web search points out to that.

4- First person to notice, and report, the new cornerstone was the Youtube user that shooted the video.

From the prior list one can do the following plausible scenarios (from simpler to more compelx ones):

1- The cube was there since the beginning, but has no purpose whatsoever and perhaps was to correct a damage sustained during construction, to not have to do the entire piece again. Then, the vandals of 2009 simply noticed it and thought it was some kind of secret, and removed it as a souvenir. The vandals were some A J fan rednecks. The replacement of the cube was performed by the owners of the monument and the date was etched only to mark the year it was performed. Nothing to see here. Move along. This could be confirmed by a call to the county authorities, but as I live in Chile I doubt they would take me much seriously.

2- The cube was there from the beginning, and it had the purpose of being replaced at some moment. The rednecks vandals took it in 2009, and no one replaced it because it was not the moment, and when the moment arrived, it was replaced. Again, confirming this would take to contact the authorities if they are aware of the change.

3- The cube was there from the beginning, and it had the purpose of being replaced at some moment. In this case calling Elberton authorities would only confirm if they are aware of the replacement or not. Digging further woudl take to interview the people involved in the cube taking and reappearance in 2013. The authorities could also clear up why the original cube was not replaced at the moment of finding it.

Well, That's what I can come up with. I wish I were there just to be able to do more on the ground sleuthing.

It says ->“Deputies got a call to go out there, and there was a gentleman there from Alabama that had the piece of granite that was taken almost four years ago”,...Why did deputies get a call? I thought they were watching from the cameras? Who called DEPUTIES???
