Do the same path over and over on the road real slow. It was fine with the cops too. Quoting: CeeLite Haha, I remember the "cruise". What on Earth were we thinking? Seemed so cool at the time though:) Hey, at 79-cents/gallon for gas, it was cheap entertainment. |
Bigfoot Hunter User ID: 57366096 United States 09/24/2014 11:34 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Spending every quarter I could get my hands on playing video games. In those days you either played Atari 2600 at home or you went to the video arcade and spent a fortune (at least to a kid it was a fortune. 25 cents would get you three lives in most games, then you fed more $$$ into the machine. Quoting: Bigfoot Hunter Commodore 64 with turbo cassette drive. I love summer olympics lol. In '83 i had a leg op and my dad bought me donkey kong 2 i love that thing. still got it with original box and all, been offered big dollars for it. Every Sat night without fail, before i'd head out was watch Magnum PI, then Quantum Leap. I thought Magnum PI was on on Thursday Nights. Not in Australia Ah, that would explain it lol. In the USA it was Thursdays, then Simon and Simon came on after Magnum. [link to www.imdb.com] |

The cars, the music. We loved the Wanderers, Christine, Eddie and the Cruisers, The Wonder years etc. There was a bunch of movies in the 80s set in the late 50/60s. Anonymous Coward User ID: 60505742 Malaysia 09/24/2014 11:50 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I was a wild child. Cruising through the park. Sometimes 30 to 50 people would show up. The cops would often stop by to see what we were up to. Everyone would hide everything until the cops were satisfied we weren't doing anything and then they'd leave us alone. My senior year we often hung out at my best friend's boyfriend's house. His mother had moved out of state and let him live there by himself so he could finish his senior year with his friends. Every weekend was a party. We used to see how big we could roll joints. We did the Cheech and Chong paper that came with their album. Another time we took about 10 sheets of rolling paper and stuck them together. The joint was so long you had to use both hands to hold it. One Saturday afternoon my best friend and I were hanging out at the arcade and ran into a guy we knew from school. He sold us our first quualude. After we left, I started to feel kind of spacey. The roads were icy and the next thing I knew the car was spinning so fast I couldn't even tell where the car was going. Then we landed with a very loud WHOMP. We had landed in the center of the highway facing the cemetery. I started freaking out because I was sure I had wrecked my mom's car. I got out of the car to check the damage and I fell on my butt because all 4 wheels were off the ground while the center of the car was resting on an icy chunk of snow. At least there had been no damage to the car. An elderly couple stopped and asked us if we needed some help. We asked them if they would take us to a pay phone. My boyfriend was at work that day so we called my friend's boyfriend. Several of his buddies were hanging out at his house so they all piled into his car and met us back at my car. I knew I was going to be in for one hell of a teasing once they saw how I'd landed the car. I did get the teasing, but they were also relieved because it was much easier to push the car off the chunk of snow than it would have been to get it out of a ditch. It's a wonder we survived or managed to stay out of trouble with all the stupid things we did. We would have never gotten away with that stuff today. Looking back, though, even though we partied a LOT, we were pretty polite and respectful kids. We didn't steal and weren't violent. We were all just out for a good time and our little town had nothing for teens to do. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 33630375 United States 09/25/2014 12:18 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Oh yeah, the good old days. We did the same, either cruised loops while flirting with guys or had a keg at someone's house while their parents were away. Usually 50 or so teens would show up and party until neighbors called the police and everyone would have to leave. Sometimes we'd have a big bonfire next to a lake, beach, field, river or wherever and teens from schools everywhere would show up. Big hair with lots of hairspray, we'd listen to cassette tapes like Aldo Nova, Triumph, Eddie Money, Scorpions, Van Halen and such. So much fun, the good old days. Ah yes, Aldo Nova! We wore the shit out of that tape. "Fantasy" sounded awesome on my Pioneer Super tuner and my Jenson 6 x 9's. I had a buddy that won the very first "Car Wars" stereo competition in my area. The system was installed in an early 70's El Camino. |
