Close, but hardly perfectly rounded smooth spheres like the one shown. I'm not saying there aren't spheriCAL rocks, I'm saying you don't find them with that level of precision unless they've been created that way. What's even stranger about this is the amount of ancient spheres we find here on earth. The Costa Rica spheres for example It's hardly a rock, it's a little pebble 1cm wide. If you want to look through this picture looking for a stone as spherical as that one then knock yourself out. [link to unews.utah.edu] For arguments sake, perfectly spherical STONES (not rocks, cause rocks have to be bigger then 1cm), are possible. The odds of one being formed through concretions is probably astronomical. On top of that, concretions are in groups... So what the fuck is a statistical impossibility doing so far from home on the most unlikely of resting places? Patience is a virtue I just can't wait to achieve - CalmShock |

Loup Garou User ID: 24688599 United States 09/25/2014 08:07 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | There’s a perfect-looking sphere sitting proudly on a flat rock surface. It’s dusty, but under that dust it appears a little darker than the surrounding rock. Quoting: 411 At first glance it looks like an old cannonball or possibly a dirty golf ball. But knowing that Mars is somewhat lacking in the 16th Century battleship and golf cart departments, there was likely another answer. Of course it’s nothing man (or alien)-made, despite what your brain might be telling you. It’s another fascinating rock. Yep, it’s a spherical Mars rock. MORE.... [link to news.discovery.com] [link to mars.jpl.nasa.gov] Look again at the pic in the link, now imagine the ball is the very center of a clock. Now look where 8 o'clock would be. There is a circular indentation that appears to be the same size of the ball, and the surrounding rock has what appears to be fissures from impact. What do you think GLP? Just because YOU don’t believe in the Rougarou; or the Loup Garou, don’t make you safe; No ! Anonymous Coward User ID: 57599206 United States 09/25/2014 08:32 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It's from an electrical discharge. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 57264883 [link to www.thunderbolts.info (secure)] But there is another phenomenon that produces spheres—electric discharge. In the plasma lab, electric arcs create tiny spheres that are often hollow, such as the hematite concretions seen above. Electric discharge tends to produce spherical layering and a distinct equator and pole, because the electromagnetic force "squeezes" perpendicular to the current that creates it. :eyebrow: |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 60966865 New Zealand 09/25/2014 08:35 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | According to MSL scientists based at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Pasadena, Calif., the ball isn’t as big as it looks — it’s approximately one centimeter wide. Their explanation is that it is most likely something known as a “concretion.” Other examples of concretions have been found on the Martian surface before — take, for example, the tiny haematite concretions, or “blueberries”, observed by Mars rover Opportunity in 2004 — and they were created during sedimentary rock formation when Mars was abundant in liquid water many millions of years ago.
