We can make this planet extremely uninhabitable for ourselves and other species, but we can't destroy it. However, if mother nature gets tired of us messing with her, she could eradicate our species quite quickly in a myriad of ways.

Unrelated but caught a snip about looking for life on Mars today,basically said in the future our suns going to get hotter as it ages meaning Mars might be habitable.

Maybe they are lieng/dont know about the age of our sun and fear it might get hotter very soon.
Hence global warming and the unrealistic thought we might tera form Mars.Since it has no magonsphear it wont ever have a decent atmosphear or be habitable on the surface.

funny thing - last night as the sun set I noticed the cresent moon with a 'star' perfectly aligned with the center of the crescent. I looked it up with a star app and saw it was Mars. M oon and M ars
