Cosmic Lightsaber Slices Through Clouds in Awesome New Image

A powerful lightsaber slices through the dark clouds of dust and gas that surround it. It's not a scene from the new "Star Wars" movie but an image captured by NASA's Hubble Space Telescope.

Formed by material falling onto a newborn star, the two beams of light shoot outward from their star at supersonic speeds to create the two jets that look like the double-sided lightsaber wielded by Darth Maul in "Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace."

The Hubble telescope took the images of the region in infrared light, allowing the telescope to pierce the veil of gas and dust surrounding the newly formed stars and thus capture clear views of them.

Some say to ascend one must descend. Wonder how the red nose fares in caves

[link to www.livescience.com]

And while space scientists can study distant worlds with satellites equipped with robotic instruments, it's harder to do that when you go underground.

"Remote sensing technologies are very limited with caves," Joel Despain, chairman of the International Exploration Committee of the National Speleological Society of the U.S., explained in an email. "In some circumstances thermal imaging can reveal cave entrances with airflow that is cold or warm compared to surface temperatures."

Veni noted that caves are filled with living organisms, including insects and microbes that may help scientists to discover new antibiotics and other medicines.

They also have preserved evidence of past climate cycles, which scientists can use to fine-tune their models for future trends.

oh, you know what, near surface caves maintain the same climate year round. They are not effected by seasonal change. They are in their own golden age environment. I wonder if it is the case the deeper one goes in a cave, probably depends on if the caves have moving waters or near volcanoes.

The case of the disappearing electrons

Far above Earth's surface, ultraviolet rays from the sun interact with nitric oxide in the atmosphere to produce electrons that travel toward Earth. But since the 1960s, scientists have known that there is an sharp drop in the number of electrons present in the atmosphere at night. This drop was found when rockets first breached the upper atmosphere to sample its temperature, pressure and electron density. This "electron ledge" occurs within the ionosphere's D-layer, which stretches between 37 miles and 56 miles (60 km and 90 km) above the Earth's surface.

The D-region ledge plays a critical role in modern communication. The planet itself conducts electricity, as does the layer of the ionosphere above the ledge, but electromagnetic waves don't travel through nonconductive materials, like the electron-depleted region below the ledge. Below the ledge, the electron-depleted air acts as an insulator, forming a layer between the Earth and its atmosphere that enables radio waves and very low frequency electromagnetic waves to circle the globe. [Quiz: The Science of Electricity]

The D-region ledge appears most strongly at night and shows up equally in the atmosphere above the poles, the equator and everywhere in between. Yet no one knew why it was there.

....
Meanwhile, the meteor dust itself would bind to the free electrons that were formed when the sun's ultraviolent rays interacted with the atmosphere. The reason the D-region ledge is so prominent at night is because ultraviolet radiation from the sun during the day is 100 times greater than at night, so the production of free electrons dwarfs the ledge effect during the day.

Mineral water is one of the most underrated supplements out there. It isn’t just the delicious fizzy taste; it also contains, as you might guess, some minerals! One under-appreciated mineral is sulfate, and there is lots of sulfate in San Pellegrino compared to most other mineral waters.

After coming across Stephanie Seneff’s work with Weston A. Price a few years ago at an SVHI meeting, I dug in and agree with her that sulfate will likely become as biologically important as nitric oxide, another hugely important signaling molecule that was invisible to biologists because it disappears quickly.

Space groups and crystals are divided into 7 crystal systems according to their point groups, and into 7 lattice systems according to their Bravais lattices. Five of the crystal systems are essentially the same as five of the lattice systems, but the hexagonal and trigonal crystal systems differ from the hexagonal and rhombohedral lattice systems. The six crystal families are formed by combining the hexagonal and trigonal crystal systems into one hexagonal family, in order to eliminate this confusion.

Traditional Navajo/Diné limit the telling of stories involving Spider Grandmother to the winter months, known as "the season when Thunder sleeps", when it is safe to discuss certain dangerous spirits, such as Spider Woman and Northern Thunder (whence the season takes its name), and esoteric topics, such as the Emergence narrative.

She is creator of the world in Southwestern Native American religions and myths such as that of the Pueblo and Hopi peoples. Although accounts vary, according to mythology she was responsible for the stars in the sky; she took a web she had spun, laced it with dew, threw it into the sky and the dew became the stars.

You know what they say about dew in herbal medicineafro

But this is different, hmmmm

Guttation is the exudation of drops of xylem sap on the tips or edges of leaves of some vascular plants, such as grasses. Guttation is not to be confused with dew, which condenses from the atmosphere onto the plant surface.

Connected with this, backdrop is the zoetrope//speed of the gods:

[link to transcripts.foreverdreaming.org]

Daedalus: Icarus... What's it good for? Don't you see him walking? Yes. I've made a drawing move like a man. So what? [stammers in confusion] This has never been done before. Our house is bare, our stomachs empty, winter grows ever nearer, and you sit around making drawings move? I... I could sell it in the market. Why would anyone want that stupid thing, Daedalus? No one wants your ridiculous ideas. [sighs] How will our child survive? While you dream your empty dreams, we go hungry. Why couldn't I have married a man with a head on his shoulders? What hope is there for our child? Our child is dead, my sweet. I killed him. [sobbing] My empty dreams destroyed our son. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry, my love. [weeping] What? One day, my dreams will make us rich. I don't want to be rich. I want to be happy. Aren't you happy? No. I'm hungry. No one can be happy when they're hungry. Strange... It disappears. Dreams are for the gods. You are not a god, Daedalus. You are just a stupid old fool. It disappears... It disappears. Speed of the gods. You're not made of magic. You're made of nature, just like us.

We're sealed in. And it's getting colder. Why? Boreas, god of the north wind, is exacting his revenge. So this is where we die? In this frozen tomb? And the Lexicon dies with me? Why would the god of the north wind defy his mighty Zeus? The north wind cares nothing for Zeus. Gods quarrel just like men. Unless this, too, is a test. What do you mean? You said I must sacrifice three things to open the doors of Olympus. The first was love, the second was heritage, but what was the third? That is something you must discover for yourself. Maybe this is where I find out. How? The cold does strange things to a man's mind. I once saw things I imagined come to life before my eyes, demons and ghosts. I had to fight hard just to keep my wits. Are you saying that Zeus is trying to drive you mad to help you see more clearly? It doesn't make sense, does it? On the contrary, it makes complete sense. The most powerful things are buried so deep inside us that we would never accept them, unless we let go. Let go of what? Everything we've been taught, everything we hold sacred. The codes we live by.

Where is the son of Aegeus? I don't know. Use your gift. Find him. Don't you think I've tried over and over again? All I can see is his evil face staring back at me. Have you taken her gift? You flatter me. Then what happened? I don't know. Turn your mind back. What clue have we not uncovered? There is nothing. What do you know of the speed of the gods? What? The sacred ring is a weapon. How? I don't know. Ask your sacred mother. Perhaps she will respond to that. Oh, it's no use. Try again. No! Try again! Holy mother, forgive my angry heart. Purge the pain from my fragile soul and look behind the veil. Why do we dance to the speed of time? It's no use.

You said we danced to the speed of time. Why? Isn't that what you asked? No, I said the speed of the gods. Where have you heard that phrase before? Uh... in the... the Temple of Gaia. That's what the son of Aegeus called it when Priest Cyrus first bled him. What else did he say? Uh, he talked of a serpent with a line of yellow diamonds running down its spine. What does that mean? Uh, Priest... Priest Cyrus thought it was an emblem of the sacred ring. The serpent was coiled round the waist of a maiden with long, plaited hair, one of five maidens who danced in a circle. The maidens are the five fingers, and the serpent is the ring of the Magi, and they danced to the speed of time. The speed of time. Yes, yes, yes, go on. Uh, a blind prophet was watching the dance. He wore a crown of white flowers, and in one hand, he held a scythe, and in the other an olive branch, and the blind prophet was weeping. The scythe represents Chronos, god of time. The olive branch, as we know, reflects peace. The god of time must be appeased before we can enter the door to Olympus. Our Hero has appeased him already. Daedalus, don't be a fool. You're a genius. A genius is a fool! Time stood still, yes? On the stepping stone bridge and the olive tree, yes. One minute he was there, then he disappeared. He was dancing to the speed of time. What? If we were to move fast enough, we, too, would disappear, like a hummingbird's wing that beats so fast, it shimmers into a blur. Perhaps the gods aren't that different from us. They just live in a different speed of time. How? Imagine that a second to us is like a day to them, or a week. We would appear like helpless statues to them while they would be invisible to us. All we would see is the trail they leave behind... wind, storm, earthquake. No. The gods live in a spiritual world we will never understand, ruled by mystery and magic, not science. Not science, nature. They are ruled by nature, just like us. Nonsense. The door to Olympus is not a door as we would understand it. It is a door in the speed of time, a mechanism that alters the way we live. Daedalus, you are indeed a genius.
