Re: BREAKING: Thai researchers to announce cure for Ebola virus on Thursday
BANGKOK, 29 September 2014 (NNT) - A team of doctors from Siriraj Hospital have reportedly made a groundbreaking discovery by being the first in the world to develop a vaccine to cure the deadly Ebola virus.

Doctors from the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital at Mahidol University have conducted a thorough research on ways to treat patients infected with Ebola. The team was able to develop a special kind of vaccine that would produce antibodies to cure the Ebola virus.

A press conference to announce the medical breakthrough is set for October 2, 2014 on the 2nd Floor, Room A201, of the Srisavarinthira Building. The press conference will be presided by Doctor Udom Kachintorn, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital.

How is this possible if the US has a patent on the disease? Thought they wouldn't allow any research on it. But I assume they just wanted to make sure a bullshit vaccine is the answer, nad anything cheap and effective would be swept under the rug.... Either way I'm never getting the vaccine. It's been proven by research, Statistics, and logic that they are ineffective, cause more disease then prevent, and cause lots of permanent conditions like... DEATH and others less severe.. I love how on WWZ the movie they "need to find patient Zero to find a cure" When the HELL has any researcher looked for the reason WHY someone has a disease?! they don't care. they just want to make bank on that patent. Native Americans were slaughtered because of a shiny yellow rock, and now the world is being slaughtered for a green piece of paper...

Money grab. No supportive data that I can find.

But no supporting data have been presented yet, as the Siriraj University researchers said they would present it today. Maybe we should wait and listen to their announcement before making a judgement?

Re: BREAKING: Thai researchers to announce cure for Ebola virus on Thursday
I have been following this with interest, and here is a summary of what Siriraj University (Thailand) announced today regarding their Ebola vaccine:

BANGKOK: Doctors at the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hosptial, Mahidol University in Bangkok, Thailand claim that they have developed a new antibody that could cure Ebola patients. The antibody could be a year away from being produced on a large scale, they said.

In a press conference on Thursday (Oct 2), the hospital announced that it has produced antibodies against Ebola that are small enough to enter infected cells, and also access the virus proteins within the cell.

The research will also result in a cure that is more efficient and effective than other potential cures, say the doctors. There is currently no vaccine or cure for Ebola, but an experimental drug, ZMapp, is currently undergoing testing.

WHO asks for Ebola anti-body from Siriraj for lab test

October 3, 2014 3:33 pm

The World Health Organisation has requested for a sample of therapeutic antibody for Ebola virus from Siriraj Hospital, clinical Prof Dr Udom Kachintorn, dean of Mahidol University's Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, said Friday.

He said the WHO wanted to try applying the anti-body with the real Ebola in its Bio-safety Level 4 laboratory in the United States.

He said if the anti-body works effectively, WHO may develop it as a cure for the the deadly Ebola Haemorrhagic Fever, and thus cutting the process of trials in the animals and human beings.
