WHY the fuck won't the government restrict travel to / from West Africa? It makes NO SENSE. Ebola won't spread here as it does in the third world but why risk it? Why put the lives of innocent people and / or first responders in jeopardy?

I believe you. I read several recent articles about this, and how the primary failure was in disposal of the contaminated ebola waste. One expert even said something along the lines of "That's where it breaks down, every time."

Anyone who believes ebola can't/won't spread within a civilized country is wrong. Think about it. In Africa you have villages that are far spread apart & not connected by interstate highways. You don't have elaborate public transportation systems. You don't have shopping malls and outdoor festivals/sporting events, and fast food restaurants on every corner. Yes, sanitation and education is a MAJOR difference... but I believe the things I just listed tend to even the scale a bit. Just one person with ebola could easily infect an entire US city in a matter of hours.

Yep. And if they gave it 20% they either misjudged the threat, or the virus is ramping upwards and outwards.

The CDC has said that 12 other people in the U.S. have been tested for Ebola since July 27. Those tests came back negative.

I work as a nurse in the county hospital in Fort Worth. I knew this shit would make it to us, I just figured it would come through Mexico

time to put a 20 km corridor around Dallas.

To top that off, we have a nation full of blind sheeple who wander around aimlessly texting and believing "this can't happen here" or "this can happen in Dallas but not in my city" or whatever. I think that in itself opens us up in a major way.
