It states the politicians are claiming its descriminatory to gay men because to ban blood given by gay men because in doing so is to assume that all gay men have HIV or aids. What they are trying to do is reverse the law that prevents the collection of blood from gay men based on the assumption that all gay men have HIV or aids. All blood which is used in the US is tested for diseases before it is given to a patient so you will not recieve HIV or aids if you recieved blood taken from a gay man because all blood has be tested and cleared.

Either way, any and ALL donated blood should be pre-screened. The fact that there is even a ban on gays giving blood gives off an alarming vibe. It almost makes it seem as there is no pre screening protocol.

Why chance it? Is it so wrong to fill out a questionnaire asking if you had gay sex or, for that matter been in a foreign country lately. Yes, tourist are also turned down because of the countries they've visited. You don't see them get their panties all up in a wad! If your small group carries 50+% of HIV, then don't give blood. Human error is much to volatile.

i got to donate plasma and they ask you if you've been to any of those African countries with the high AIDs rate, and they ask if you've been in prison or if you are gay or use drugs.
