Re: A TRUMPET FOR A MARCHING BAND STUDENT
God bless GLP and all the wonderful people here!

Thank you Patrick for your kind and loving gift to a little girl who had no hope.
Her name is Hope.
Ironic isn't it?
She sent you pics of her band and pics of herself. I wish I could post them here so everyone could see who is being helped.

Thank you Patrick!!!

Awesome work Georgia! Do you think she needs a tune up? Also, do you know roughly what something like that is worth? Thanks again for posting those pictures and I think Hope's mom wanted you to post the ones of her in the marching band but you may want to double check that.

Thank you for doing the heavy lifting and providing a good horn, buddy!

A tune up is probably a good idea. How many years old is the trumpet?

Since I have been out of band for so long, I am not sure what the price of a used Yamaha is selling for. I did a quick search when this thread popped up. Yamahas seemed to be in the $1,000 plus range new.

And I am waiting to hear back from OP to see if she wants the other two pictures posted.

Is Hope the mother or the band member? I'm still confused.

I am not sure what the mothers name is but Hope is the 15 year old in band, she is a cute girl and they seem like a neat family. Feels good to help, I am happy I could...

The trumpet was made in the early 90's I believe and its a Yamaha is about all I know. There was a model number on it I think but its in route now so not sure on that, you'll have to ask Hope when she gets it.

As far as the other pics, maybe after she gets the horn she'll have us post some with it???

Anyway, thanks for everything Georgia, we did good!

Hope is the lovely 15 year old you made cry for an hour last night Patrick

She is so happy she literally sobbed!

You can post the pics Georgia. The pic of Hope and her Dad is the one she wanted you guys to see.

He looks different now, but that was 8th grade formal and
she loves that one more than any.

He is much skinnier and pale so she wants everyone to see him before he got really sick

He weighed about 230 and is 5'10"

Our lives have changed drastically

I watched the people of this website take a man down on his luck from Texas to New England
If there was ever a place where real people come together with love and compassion for their fellow man, this is it.

Thank you Georgia for posting the pics for me and Patrick, I know you know how we all feel.

You have a beautiful family and I see how you are the man you are in it.

I will never forget and Hope promises to pay it forward. I guarantee she will.

I love you guys. My heart feels so huge for you and yours I think it might explode.

Love always

Alright, y'all. Here are the pictures of Hope with her Dad and the marching band. That one takes me back to my marching band days.

And this is for Hope's Mom; My offer still stands to pay for a music store to go through the horn and get it in tip top shape. Are there any local music shops that do business with your marching band?

I will need a link to their website so I can contact them to set up payment.

And I'm sorry if the picture of Hope and Dad is not good.

GLP's smilies submission process sucks. It wouldn't let me post that picture to the maximum size of 640 x 480. It seemed to be recognizing the dimensions backwards. I can only guess that is because the picture is a portrait and not a landscape.

After all this I feel it would be blasphemous to let anyone do anything else. They had a concert tonight and she used a borrowed trumpet from a girl who plays both the french horn and trumpet.

This is the most amazing thing that has ever happened to me and mine.

I am overwhelmed

I will get Hope to send you the clip she sent Patrick of her duet tonight. They are so sweet and try so hard
