Fear of death.
Many in the new age/environmental/earth worship religions are scared to death that overpopulation will be the cause of their own death. From this fear of death, they now agree with those who espouse a "purposeful cull of populations", in other words outright murder and genocide. Why do they agree?
Because they've been made to fear their own death.

This is just on the physical plane. Physical life. Extrapolate that to your soul and you will see why many devolve into earthly religions which demand daily rosaries, chanting, repetive bowing, attending "mass" which is a sacrifice, self immolations, belief in a law of karma, "martyrdom"....they do it because they are told these acts will save their own soul - that man can save himself.
