When ISIS fighters took over his Kurdistan village, Said Marat was rounded up to be executed. Miraculously, he made it out alive.

Saud Marat is a Yazidi, not Muslim. It is an ancient religion that is a mix of Christianity and Islam. Radical Muslims consider them devil worshipers and are committing ethnic cleansing' (genocide) against them in northern Iraq, their ancient homeland.

Many Yazidis are very 'white' looking, with light colored/blond hair, blue-green eyes.

ISIS fighters took over his village. They rounded up the peop l e, seperated the men (over 12), women and children. They asked them to convert to Islam, they refused. The men were thrn taken to the edge of town and told to lie face down in a dry irrigation ditch, where they were shot and murdered. This man didn't die. He waited under a pile of bodies until the ISIS fighters left, then climbed out, shot in three places, but still alive. He made it to a home occupied by Muslims. Thry helped him clean and dress his wounds, gave him good and water. He eventually had to hike up a mountain to make to an area where an estimated 30,000 Yazidi refugees have fled.
