Re: Christians - If Jesus Christ came to FULFILL the Law and not to "do away with it".
OP please consider this. If the only thing Jesus wanted was for people to follow the old testament law, why would Jesus give us new commandments?

And now I give you a new commandment: love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.
(John 13:34)

Jesus answered, “What God wants you to do is to believe in the one he sent.”
(John 6:29)

What he commands is that we believe in his Son Jesus Christ and love one another, just as Christ commanded us.
(1 John 3:23)
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 63754214

Jesus didn't command that the people believe in him as the son of God.

Here is the message Jesus preached

scribe: ‘Which commandment is the first of all?’

Jesus: The first is, “Hear, O Israel: the Lord OUR God, the Lord is one; (He repeated the message of Moses)
you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.” this is the 2nd command
The scribe said:‘You are right, Teacher; you have truly said that “he is one, and besides him there is no other”;

Jesus had the opportunity to tell people he is the son of God but he didn't because he knew he is NOT the son of God.
The scribe called him a Teacher. That is what he was a teacher/prophet. Teaching his people (children of israel) the torah and gospel.

Re: Christians - If Jesus Christ came to FULFILL the Law and not to "do away with it".
When he said he came to fulfill the law and not do away with it, he came to fulfill the promise of the messiah. He is the Messiah, not a replacement, but IS.

The law is written in the hearts of Christians.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 54980830

But do you practice this law that is written in the hearts of Christians?

Can you tell me what the law is?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 60926590

One is easier for me than the other. I struggle, therefore am filthy in the eyes of God, in they eyes of man, I'm pretty much a saint (not literally but graded on a curve of our society atm, I don't do too bad....but still, filthy to the Lord). Thank goodness my sins are paid for by Jesus.

Re: Christians - If Jesus Christ came to FULFILL the Law and not to "do away with it".
He came to fulfill the law by being without sin and receiving the punishment for ours. He made the law impossible to keep so that we would all stand guilty. Without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sins. Its not about legalism. Its about relationship. You can't explain the genuine born again experience. It must be experienced for yourself. Its not about saying a little prayer and going on with business as usual. I don't believe because I was scared of hell or brainwashed. I had a real encounter with the Holy Spirit that was tangible both emotionally and physically. A love and power that I had never known and it changed me forever. This is the difference between saying a half hearted prayer that leaves you as empty as you started and having a life changing conversion. Its sad how twisted the gospel has been presented to people many times over the years. Pretend church buildings and preachers are not part of the equation. Forget about the people promising a life without struggles or getting snatched into the clouds before gas hits $5 a gallon. Read the bible, cry out to the Lord sincerely and He will be found. Let go of this world because it is all passing away.

We have to read it in context to understand it.

34 When the Pharisees heard that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, they came together, 35 and one of them, a teacher of the Law, tried to trap him with a question. 36 “Teacher,” he asked, “which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”

37 Jesus answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the greatest and the most important commandment. 39 The second most important commandment is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as you love yourself.’ 40 The whole Law of Moses and the teachings of the prophets depend on these two commandments.”
(Matthew 22:34-40)

[link to www.biblegateway.com]

The question they asked Jesus was: "which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" Then Jesus replied with the two greatest commandments in the Law of Moses. And He told them that the whole Law of Moses and the writings of the prophets depend on those two commandments. In other words, the whole of the old testament books depend on those two commandments.

Note that He was specifically asked what is the greatest commandment "in the Law", ie: the Law of Moses. The question was not "what are the 2 most important commandments ever". Therefore He answered them with the greatest commandment in the Law of Moses, and as a bonus, also told them the second greatest commandment in the Law of Moses.

Therefore, those two commandments are just what Jesus said they are, the two greatest commandments in the Law of Moses.

For Christians, the two greatest commandments are straight from Jesus Himself:

28 So they asked him, “What can we do in order to do what God wants us to do?”

29 Jesus answered, “What God wants you to do is to believe in the one he sent.”
(John 6:28-29)

And now I give you a new commandment: love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.
(John 13:34)

My commandment is this: love one another, just as I love you.
(John 15:12)

What he commands is that we believe in his Son Jesus Christ and love one another, just as Christ commanded us.
(1 John 3:23)

No, that is not what he said. He indicated that not a letter of the law would cease to exist...
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1003364

There are two sides to this.
The Law is not done away with. Yet it was always only applied to Israel. From Abraham to Moses there was no Law. It was added because of Israel's sinning against God.
The Law was given because Israel was breaking their covenant with God.

However, Christians are under a different Covenant with God. It is unbreakable because Jesus can not break the Covenant. So no requirements, like the Law, apply to it.

But do you practice this law that is written in the hearts of Christians?

Can you tell me what the law is?

One is easier for me than the other. I struggle, therefore am filthy in the eyes of God, in they eyes of man, I'm pretty much a saint (not literally but graded on a curve of our society atm, I don't do too bad....but still, filthy to the Lord). Thank goodness my sins are paid for by Jesus.

Isaiah 5:20 KJV
Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
