American Horror Story: Freak Show

reminds me of Island of Dr. Moreau. or lunatic fringe. or Hollywood, puppet show. or Mark Twain's Mysterious Stranger, the playdough people blowing nose on the illusory island. or personas managed by trannys w/ persona management software. or rick people who paint their driveways black. etc. a dream meant to fade to black. like u OP. yeah

Let's just say there was no mistaking about who's writing this show: misogynist homosexual men. They even had a little boy caged for no reason. Disgusting media bullshit.

What was with the "other" Jessica Lang when she was singing?

I actually did read the book many years ago and so far the only similarity that I get is that both the book and the show involve freaks. I will admit though that I forget many of the characters from Geek Love. In the book, the owners of the freak show would purposely create deformed babies in order to add more freaks to the family.
The show seems equally if not more inspired from the the 1932 cult classic film "Freaks" Even some of the visuals and scenes are very reminiscent of the movie.
If you love Freak Show you should check out the movie.

It started in UK. I think it is very good. The freaks are superb. Not as good as the first series but watchable.

I've been watching since the first season and love the show. Every season stands on its own, with some of the actors being weaved into the new story.

I remember after season one everyone was wondering if they would show different families moving into the house and how they would be integrated into the story of the house or if they would do what they did which was amazing. Loving how they pepper clues and hints throughout the season for what next season will entail.

In addition to the movie Freaks and the other tinges from past possible influences to this season there seems to be a facet of the HBO show Carnival, which was short lived but pretty interesting.

Looking forward to seeing the episode tonight!

what do you think compared to previous ?. In Spain still has not been released but I guess you could now download from somewhere in the original version.

I watched Murder House and Asylum. When it got to Coven, I thought it was more for the teen crowd, but we finished it anyway.

But Freak show? No. I didn't care for the pornographic aspects of it. I don't need to see lobster boy giving the you know what to a bored housewife, or fucked up imagery of pepper and company in old films in a porno group fuck.

I love horror and a good story, but this is just flat out sick. I hope next year will be something better. I'm no prude and don't mind sex scenes, even some edgy stuff but this shit is sick.

As much as I love Jessica Lange, we need to move on. She's in every damn story and enough is enough. We need to get some new people in there next time. Evan Peters was only good in murder house. Lange was good in Asylum. Bates was good in Coven.

Geek Love is about an albino dwarf who remembers her days in the freakshow while she tries to reconnect with her 'normal' daughter......love the book, but don't see any similarities here...

I hope Jessica Lange comes back for another season.She does such a great job in this. I like the seasonal characters.

I just realized the ghost/maid, angel of death, red headed witch and now mother of spoiled brat was the same actress that played the mom in 6 feet under. Frances Conroy.

The crazy blonde nun ( Eunice? ) from a previous season is supposed to come into this season, also.

I love it

I watched all seasons of America Horror Show. I liked the first one and this last one best but I was surprised it won so many Emmys.

Also read Geek Love long ago. I think this is more an original series although both have freaks as subject.

I saw it has been signed for another season.

Anyone hear what the subject will be for next year?
