Live in the moment!!

Most of the people I know that just "live in the moment" are the ones getting into a lot of trouble. In fact one is dead. We are able to think about the past and the future for a reason. you are to learn from your mistakes in the past and use the moment to better your future.

Just living in the moment is reckless and naive.

Some people live in the past. If they could turn back time, they would have done things differently. They would have gone to college, not gotten a divorce, saved more money, been a better father/mother, lived more, loved more, traveled, not drank so much, been kinder, etc.

Some people live in the future, when they win the lottery, when they get a better job, when they graduate, when they meet their soul mate, when the economy gets better, when life settles down, when their kids are grown, when they retire, etc.

Then there are those of us who live in the moment. We can’t change the past, we can’t control the future, all we have is right now.

While most people are busy worrying about the past and the future they are forgetting to LIVE!

There are NO guarantees’ in life. There are NO guarantees that you are not going to suffer a heart attack while sitting at your desk. There are no guarantees that you are not going to be killed in a car accident on your way home from work. There are no guarantees that you are not going to die dragging your tomato plants inside. There are no guarantees that a meteorite is not going to land on your head. There are no guarantees that you are not going to die by a number of crazy things that life throws into your path.

So while you are worrying about things that you can not control, don’t forget to LIVE!

Live each and every moment like it’s your last. Put down your phones and look up at the sun, moon, stars, and clouds. Look into people’s eyes, enjoy the innocence of children, smell the flowers and grass, enjoy the changing leaves, smile when you see the Canadian geese fly North or Monarch butterflies heading South, watch squirrels burring seeds for the winter, sing along to your favorite song, dance around your room like no one is watching, take a long soak in a bathtub, have an extra piece of chocolate, drink the entire bottle of wine, take a walk, hug your dog/cat, kiss your children, tell your spouse you appreciate them, help a stranger, take a deep breath and slow down.

You only get one life so enjoy every breath you take.

my moments are normally cautious. when my friends were getting in trouble somehow i avoided it since their behavior seemed risky to me at the time. that is not to say i didn't do some really dumb things but usually with a measure of caution. now i am about safe things mainly. i try not to put myself at risk through risky activities.

dancing alone has always served well. can't think of anyone i upset when dancing alone and i always enjoyed it.

One thing I've learned is you can't change your beginning, and you can't change your ending (hint: you die), but clinging to either can really fuck up the middle. The middle is all you really have, and you can actually control the middle.

Honestly, do we really control anything? It's my experience that, no matter how in control we think we are, life will always throw you a curve ball.

Enjoy each and every moment for what it is.

You only get one life so enjoy every breath you take.

Ok, I made it for 60 years living in the moment. Obviously "reckless and naive" has worked out well for me. Sorry to hear about your friends.

I have buried my grand parents, parents, in-laws, aunts, uncles, friends, and I hope I die before my children.
