The socialist in this school system know no bounds. If they would get rid of all the BS days off, the winter snow days would not be so bad. It seems like they never go a full week without having a day off for one reason or another. |

It looks promising, but classes aren't starting until Nov 3. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 31229003 We are using it for Kindergarten and I am thinking of canceling and going rogue. Common core for K is not age appropriate and they are literally cramming too much into short amounts of time. Unfortunately for us, we live in a strict state for non public home schooling. |

Quoting: Article: [link to www.lex18.com] Media report the action comes after last year's cold and snowy winter, which led to some districts canceling classes for several days at a time. [link to www.lex18.com] Alright... so yeah... Right it in the article it mentions last winters wrath and snow days... But... anyone remember this thread? Thread: No School for Christmas? So are many other school systems implementing a learn at home policy? I don't think TPTB encourage home learning because they mostly have been encouraging both parents to work. I think the public school at home trend could have been a way to lure the home school families to use public school at home with all the supplies provided, and then the school gets federal money for those students. |

Right, it's far easier to let your children's minds be warped beyond repair by government thugs whose heroes are Stalin and Mao. Priorities kiddo, priorities. |

It looks promising, but classes aren't starting until Nov 3. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 31229003 K12 is a great program, my youngest son is in 9th grade in their program. Just keep in mind that it's still Common Core. If you use K12, stay active in the classes. I tell my son what the teacher wants to hear, and the facts. I tell him to answer their questions the way they want to see it, but don't believe the revisionist history they are pedaling. I help him every night with his Common Core algebra. That's some fucked up shit. A simple division problem now takes a full sheet of paper. It's so confusing I have to chech the answers in my head to see if they even come up with the right solution. Last Edited by Epic Beard Guy on 10/14/2014 04:20 PM Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst. "America is at that awkward stage. And the OP never did get back to us on where in the world his school district was. Maybe that means he's really, really busy getting it off the ground, and doesn't have time anymore for GLP. WA has online schooling, and I know of several students using it. Our grandson's school is thinking of taping/CDing all of their classes and making them available for students who are sick or can't for whatever reason make it to school. But they're thinking of doing it in the regular classrooms, all the time. Not sure if that's what Willie (the OP of that thread) was talking about. It could be the way to go, or with a lengthy ebola out-of-school event, states are going to have to wing it to keep the Federal $$ coming in to pay the bills. No kids in class or in an approved online course, no $$ from the Feds. |
