In this economy why the SUDDEN rush to build all these new hotels along the highways

For year all my travels I have never seen anything like this. Even in small towns six to eight going up in a two mile span at the same time. Nobody is going to be doing any traveling with all the ebola doom so what gives? They building them so they can write them off as losses?
