Texas health worker isolated on cruise ship over possible Ebola contact
A Texas health worker who may have had contact with specimens from the first patient diagnosed with Ebola in the United States has been isolated on a cruise ship despite showing no symptoms of the disease, the Department of State said on Friday.

The Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital worker, who did not have direct contact with now deceased Liberian patient Thomas Eric Duncan but could have processed his bodily fluids 19 days ago, left on a cruise from Galveston on Sunday, department spokeswoman Jen Psaki said in a statement.

U.S. concerns have intensified after two nurses from the Dallas hospital who cared for Duncan contracted the virus, which has killed nearly 4,500 people, mostly in West Africa. President Barack Obama's administration is facing sharp criticism from lawmakers over its efforts to contain the disease at home.

The employee has been self-monitoring since last Monday and has yet to develop a fever or show any other symptom of Ebola, the statement said. The worker and a companion voluntarily isolated themselves in their cabin, and U.S. officials are arranging for the ship to return to the country.

Re: Texas health worker isolated on cruise ship over possible Ebola contact
Huge amounts of this story scrubbed by U.S. media. She was showing symptoms so she self quarantined. Then the cruise ship stuck her and her husband on a tender to head to shore and catch an emergency flight to the U.S. But the Belize government told them to get lost and also would not let any other passengers off the boat and sent the Belize coast guard to make sure no one escaped the ship. The patients floated off shore not allowed back on the cruise ship or on shore while the US gov negotiated all day for them to have permission to leave.

Belize told the US to get lost and then told Carnival Cruise lines to take their boat and their diseased passengers out of Belize waters and go back to the U.S. So 4000 passengers instead of touring Belize are now headed back to the U.S. and also skipped the cruise ship plans to go to the next country planned on the cruise.

So if she actually was symptom free as US media claims and only being monitored just in case why the heck would the cruise line cancel an entire cruise for 4000 plus and turn back to the US? Especially since we know the US has the ability to just land a helicopter on the cruise ship and pick them up. If they were merely monitoring symptom free people that's all it would take. If however they actually have symptoms and the US Media is lying this makes more sense because a helicopter would not have the disease containment chamber used for ebola patients.

Excellent post, OP, thanks for sharing it. Well done.
There is nothing quite as compelling as a bad idea whose time has come...
