"the great shakeout" drill was yesterday. 25th anniversary of the loma prieta quake. all the fire and police departments, hospitals, schools,etc held massive mock drills. and the Los Angeles ABC Seismograph has been "shut down for repairs" ALL WEEK LONG. and its 10/17, 17's are pretty unlucky this year. i say any minute now.... |

Frankly though, the west coast is at least somewhat prepared to deal with quakes, a quake on the east coast or midwest, could cause much more damage and loss of life than a similar quake on the west coast. |
