Tell me about your computer systems, how do you maintain world wide internet without satelite or trans Atlantic cable?

Most is what you would consider to be "old school". Old apple and IBM's. We have also reverted to typewriters. most of the USA and world is connected now. say, 65% of what you have now.

Also if you would be so kind, what is the dominant operating system of the time and how have you overcome the problems with storage mediums being scrambled by the high energies present in the environment after a nuclear war?

I am a bit old school myself, so I am very familiar with the technology you mentioned.

I am still a bit confused, and please forgive my English, but are you saying that the population has abandoned the existing open source and easily available commodity hardware available in abundance today in favor of vintage hardware? I find this interesting because most of said hardware has limited shelf life for many reasons, corosion from exposure, unavailability of SDK applications and said references and the technical limitations of trying to stuff anything like a modern ip or radio modulation network stack into the memory of something like a C64,ZX, would require the utmost skill that frankly is not available on the open market today, with the exception of a few tinkerers.

John was very specific about the computer state of the art in your time, and it does not match.

How do you account for the discrepancy?

I can only tell you what I use. some things we keep back for obvious reasons. a limited nuke war is bad, obviously, but things were back up and running faster than you think. the old IBM's and apples are sturdy pieces.

Most morons want to know overly technical details and im not that guy. I am a CO of the Tampa base. in the year 2036. but now, "what computer you use?" , "how do you bend graviton particle waves". no wonder your timeline is fucked.

What kind of questions you want us to ask you? I mean, there is of course alot i would ask you about, one thing would be to ask for the future sitation in the next years of my family members and friends in north germany. I would like to experience the good side of the future with my life partner but i expect that it maybe wouldn't be possible for me or us if we are out of luck you could say.

No one really tried to debunk you but i think one simple technical question would be possible because Titor gave that answer already.

What OS are people mainly using on their "portable device"? It would suprise me if you couldn't answer that or you are roleplaying. It would be hard for me to understand if you can't answer that question.

Yeah, testable facts are an issue that tends to be a stumbling block in a good role play...

I recommend that you should at least read the actual materials that you are trying to play off of, for consistent dialog.

Besides its obvious technical specifications, live CD footprint, extensive driver support for legacy hardware, suite of bundled applications... there is another reason why it is about to become widely known; which I suspect will become apparent shortly.

Keep this post in the back of your mind, give it due diligence, but make a note.

OS/2 1.1 old and slow, but its sturdy and works. But that's the year 2015 for you, see the maths and not much more. good luck.

Can i try to make sense of it for me? Why this sudden change with the use of computers. It makes me think that all the other devices aren't usable "very suddenly". Not that we don't want to use these, but because we can't. But Titor asked us to scan every literature we could to preserve our nostalgic past. Using OS/2 1.1 doesn't make much sense to me, not at all unless i overlook something. My question would be if cloud server like google drive, mega would be a good place to store it for the meantime.



I'm trying to do this already as much as i can but i think it's still too easy for me to overlook things or look into totally wrong directions. But thanks, i know this could really help me. I wish you good luck too with what you are trying to do.

If you really are, then id like some feasible evidence upon your statement, How do we know if you are really from another world line (if you are)?

I have a few questions to ask you if your not a complete fucking lunatic with internet access.

1.Has the IBM Model 5100 been found yet, and if not are you close to finding it?

2. What is the health system like? has there been a pandemic due to ebola?

3.Why has there not been anything even remotely close to a "war" as said by John in his early 2000's yet?

4.How many "Soldiers" like John are on a mission to find the IBM 5100?

5.IF UNIX needs to be recoded, why with the 5100, is this because this "War" has ceased the progress of 64-bit progress of UNIX?

I have more questions to ask but cannot think of any, please keep this thread because i will be asking as much as i can think of in the next few days. I would also like some sort of photo proof or what is going to happen in the next month or so of something important that is going to happen
