That's the only difference. I believe I can see the future, 'cause I repeat the same routine. I think I used to have a purpose, but then again, it might have been a dream |

Quoting: HeidiLoreUnfortunately, very little nowadays, Heidi. I posted the article because I think Alexander raises some good specifics about the current controlling party, however, I'm not too optimistic about the current Dems either. Nevertheless, I don't think Democrats, nor coventional conservatives, would lead us as rapidly into the disaster we're heading towards now with the Bush gang at the helm. We really need to reevaluate our entire, so-called, 'two party system', but at this juncture, time is of the essence. I, for one, am not hopeful. BMG 'Link, Copy, Paste, & Disseminate!' |

Quoting: HeidiLoreThe problem with Amerika politicaly today is the fact that the radical factions of either the democrats or republicans have been controlling the outcome of the country. When do the real people, the majority of the people that have views that are much more moderate, start to rear their heads and take over the operation of this fine nation. It is about time to eject the radical right and left wingers for some common sense. Put the radicals in their place, and let them be cannon fodder for the mideast wars. :bushhitler: It's only life, you'll never get out alive. I have a lot to accomplish, and not much time to accomplish it. Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one. |

That the Republicans, particularly the administration, would attempt to manipulate opinion and view of reality via the media is nothing new. **** PEACE **** UFO's @ [link to www.youtube.com] UFO photos & phenomena @ [link to www.picasaweb.google.com] MY GLP VIDEO CHANNEL * [link to video.godlikeproductions.com] [link to www.futurequake.bravehost.com] |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 107534 United States 07/24/2006 03:14 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Regarding the comments about the Democrats - since congress has been controlled by republicans since 1994, how do we know the democrats are as bad as the republicans? The democrats are locked out of sub-committee meetings, locked out of k-street project. Only a few of the same democrats that were there in the 1980s are there today. I feel that the 'democrats are the same as the republicans' spill is another karl rove propaganda piece. If they are the same, you might as well vote republican... Though, yes, we all need to get off of our collective asses and bring in a 3rd party. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 115051 United Kingdom 07/24/2006 06:20 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The reason why there's so little to choose from between Democrats and Republicans comes down to one factor: the restricted range of people who are prepared (or rich enough) to go through the whole rigmarole of politics and electioneering. When all's said and done, most politicians come from a legal or executive background and share the same contacts, outlook and aspirations as their fellow politicians. In other words, politicians are most similar to other politicians, and not their constituents! Of course they make a good job of pretending to be what the folks back home want them to be (e.g. Bush's fake Texan act). But away from the tub-thumping and grandstanding, they're cutting deals with the groups that matter most: the lobbyists. So naturally, if a rich and influential group like the Evangelical Right offers to vote for them consistently, and support them lavishly, in exchange for a few morsels of moralistic claptrap, then politicians will turn handsprings for their new-found friends. For the same reason, why did certain US Senators and Congressmen turn out for the "coronation" of the ridiculous Rev. Moon a few years ago? Because the cunning sect leader also happens to own an influential paper and have a large personal fortune to support the politicos he chooses. Same for Rupert Murdoch on a much bigger scale. Before Blair became British PM, he had to go to Murdoch and impress him so that the Murdoch press would back his election. The weird thing is that most of these rich and influential groups/figures are anything but rational. In fact they seem to get their money from promoting crazy ideas (like Scientology) and raking it in from gullible punters. The politicians, whose goal is to stay in office and reap the rewards, don't care how crazy their backers are so long as they get their backhanders... At some point this system will reach a point of no return, question is when the tipping point comes and it gets too crazy to see reality. I think that time is almost upon us, which is why the more rational conservatives are getting very worried about the Republican situation. |
