I could see us stopping Ebola, going a few months with no new cases then BANG, we find out it spread in the wild among animals and returned to the human population even worse.

Washing it down the storm drain.

Do kids play in storm drains near there?

Either way, where ever that storm drain leads, there is Ebola. As it lives months in water.

I see that happening, people relieved we stopped Ebola only to come back in a few weeks/months to wreck havoc.

I think because the people with Ebola must be the most infectious in the last two to three days before they die.

I think you must be right about this. No way the family that was living with Duncan for 3 days while he was symptomatic doesn't have it and yet nurses who were using protective gear treating him in latter stage of the disease got it unless this is the case.

I suspect there are more cases in the US than the media is saying.

CNN puts out fake news on everything to amp things up. They put out fake news on Gulf War, Sandy Hoax and many other things. Gordon Duff runs the largest intelligence operation on the planet with people in every country. Ebola is REAL. I hope you are not listening to Jim Stone because that guy is a shill. That's why he didn't report on the Snowden leak on 9/11 that ONLY veteranstoday put out proving it was nuclear.

Whats wrong with this picture? Check out this news video about the plane that transported the ebola nurses. They talk about disposal of the hazardous waste from the plane but at the 2:12 mark in the video they clearly have made some disposal errors. What the heck is hanging out of the red trash bin?

Pilot Talks About Transporting Ebola Nurses

And they say the nurse is removed from her protective suit in flight? What are the pilots wearing to protect themselves? I guess they are flying in full on hazmat too. NOT!

What if the trigger for infection is in the flu virus
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 61027762

When Flu season is in full swing, Ebola will spread dramatically...

People will be coughing and sneezing spreading all their germs in water droplets...

Surfaces will be contaminated and many more Ebola cases will be seen....

When more people contract the disease, it will have the chance to mutate and will eventually become fully airborne...

Possibly 1/4 of the worlds population could be wiped out from this disease....

It supposedly started out in Africa with one child in a village in Dec of last year. But it takes time to spread... remember it can be up to 21 days before it shows symptoms (more than that in some cases).

So Duncan is #1, he infected 2 (possibly three) at the hospital, don't know about the family. Those two nurses have contacts with regular folks while they're without symptoms, so from here it could get moving a whole lot quicker.

Who knows? Surely not the .gov or the CDC. bump

US Intel estimates that as many as 5000 Americans have now been exposed to Ebola.

"We do not have confirmations as to all involved but we do know the US is targeted and that the intent is to kill as many Americans as possible to undermine social cohesion and destroy whatever confidence the American people have in government.

We have traced financial operations behind this to Switzerland, UBS as handler of operational funds, and a number of CIA contractors as “prime movers.”

This is entirely a move from the political “right” and we have traced direct involvement to members of the Murdoch/Fox groups.

The Ebola scare, which we fear will become something far more sinister than a simple “scare” also is paralleled by a nuclear terrorism scare as well perpetrated by the Murdoch/Cheney consortium on behalf of the Al Qaeda operational group of former CIA, Mossad and Saudi intelligence officers."

First off, learn to spell exponentially.
Even people who can spell it don't understand it
or are purposely misusing it.
It is a complex word with a complex meaning that

Re: If Ebola spreads exponentially how come we don't see more cases in the U.S.
The slow incubation time is one thing that makes it such a threat too.

When a virus has a quick incubation, it burns itself quickly because the carriers die before they have a chance to infect too many people.

With 21 days incubation, imagine how many people a carrier comes in contact with during that time.

I read somewhere that Patrick Sawyer infected 9-19 other people. Fortunately, the gov't there was quick to track down all his contacts.

I suspect this will travel faster in the US than it has in Africa because people are so mobile. In Africa, it is more of a slow wave moving across, but in the US, I suspect it will be more of a "seeding" across the country as infected people keep jumping on planes and using public transportation. Plus here, people eat out, attend sports events, concerts, etc. with tens of thousands of other people. Even the US mail system alone could be a major means of spread.

different outbreak, different strain. Plus Africans in remote villages didn't travel extensively, and isolated their sick. These outbreaks died out on their own. This current outbreak is the deadliest and most extensive ever.

I stand corrected. I should have said that THIS outbreak started in Africa in Dec of last year. I do have some faith that this forum realizes that ebola is cyclical in Africa and there have been numerous outbreaks in Africa since 1976.bump

I saw a researcher being interviewed on CNN a few days ago. She said now they know the reason Duncan's nurses got it is because of the surgical masks they used. In other words, it's airborne. She said respirators must be worn.

This is factually correct.
Most infectious at the end.
Most virus in the body at time of death.
The virus also lives on for some period of time
in the dead body/body fluids.
