The whole story stinks though, regardless of when her quarantine "ends." Why "self-quarantine" while on your cfuise if you feel absolutely fabulous and have no symptoms?!?!? Worse yet, how does one think its a good idea to go on a cruise, potentially infecting thousands of others if you're not out of the incubation period?!?? As a former HCW, it boggles the mind....Personally, I wouldnt let my kids set foot inthat school if an "all clear" was given this week-- I'd wait a couple months. Will be thinking about your family---hopefully others will chime in if they get similar school notices regarding this event. |

Glad the school district is being proactive...just can't believe the stupidity of the HCW's who cruise, fly or go out for special soup! I think there should be some serious consequences for these folks. If I'd been on that cruise ship and had my vaca ruined, I'd be suing for the cost of the trip - suing the lab tech, I mean. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 3574336 I wonder how many people at my place of employment are going to abuse these types of situations just to get a 21 day vacation from work. No intention to offend anyone... but this is folly. All the hype so far has been blown way out of proportion... the EBOLA situation is JUST GETTING STARTED. Erring on the side of caution -- for a lab employee who handled a blood sample and has a miniscule change of getting infected -- and a miniscule chance of infecting anyone else this early in the progression, even if they had it -- and a miniscule chance of giving it to a school employee on a cruise liner with 5,000 people. That is erring on the side of paranoia. Just wait a few months... when asymptomatic EBOLA carriers are walking around and people are getting infected that have absolutely no known connection to an EBOLA infected person... or just wait until some ISIS nut is injected with EBOLA and blows himself up in a public place, spreading infected blood and body parts over countless people.. Not sending your kid to school a thousand miles away from an area impacted the above situation is ERRING on the side of caution. Just wait... in a few weeks, 10,000 new cases a week... by the end of the year, 50,000 new cases a week... by early next year, dozens of those people, if not 100, or 1,000, or more... will have leaked out into other countries and gotten around check-points... Then we have a problem... not now. Have a nice day = GFY. GFY = Go Fuck Yourself. If this offends you then have a nice day. |

I'mpossible User ID: 64051445 United States 10/19/2014 10:47 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Just checked our Parish school boards; nothing under Emergency Notices. Carnac, in a way I agree with you. "Pandemic Panic" at this point in time is not productive. Being proactive is productive. It's a fine line to walk. The Moore Schools may be hasty in requesting anyone from the system to "self quarantine" (who may have been exposed) and not come into the schools. Maybe those Administratiors have hearts & consciences, truly feeling a responsibility to students, families, and staff. I do not know; I'd like to think so... Apocalypse: All shall be revealed. However, considering all that our community has suffered in the past several years I have to agree with the school's decision. That aside... the main problem I have is not trusting the information we are being fed. We truly do not know the magnitude of what is going on. I have a feeling it is so much worse than we know. |
