If they were old then they should be somewhat efficient so could the old tailings be gone through with a very efficient one and still get gold? The land would then be put back to a form that was valuable, unlike it is with the tailings being the dominate feature. (as to what actual use I have no idea) One very expensive machine was developed to go through those and not only get the gold but the mercury and arsenic and all other components at the same time. What came out was sterile soil that could grow plants right off the bat with some fertilizer and seed. Nobody could decide who woul pay for it, the old mines or the Gov. That is why it was sidelined. |
