A passenger on a flight from Liberia via Brussels arrived at Newark Airport Tuesday afternoon reporting a possible exposure to Ebola and is being evaluated at a local hospital, federal health officials said.

“During the enhanced screening process for individuals arriving to the United States from Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Guinea, an individual was identified as reporting symptoms or having a potential exposure to Ebola,’’ a spokeswoman for the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Tuesday night.

The passenger was held briefly in the customs area at Terminal C and was immediately separated from other travelers on the flight, which arrived at 12:55 p.m.

The passenger was taken by ambulance “to a local hospital for further evaluation. CDC or state/local public health officials will contact other passengers on the aircraft should it be determined that there was any risk to the other passengers of exposure to communicable disease,’’ Carol Crawford said in a statement.

Two sources close to situation say the passenger is in isolation at University Hospital in Newark, according to NBC New York. This evening, there was a flurry of activity around the hospital, which has been designated as the facility for any passengers flagged by health screeners at the airport.

The hospital was on divert and not taking any new patients. Officials in protective gear were seen entering the building and police were guarding entrances.

So let me get this straight... if I live in Liberia and am "exposed to Ebola" and start getting sick, all I have to do is fly via Brussels to Newark and then tell them I was exposed to ebola and poof... I get treatment in an american hospital? free meds? free meals? round the clock care? And then probably a free ticket back to Liberia????

Hope this one sticks. I hate that I've been praying for more Ebola doom news. If this turns out to be the real deal, I should be able to unload my Ebola stock and make some money.

Maybe Chris Christie will finally say something to call out the BS open travel from Ebola hot zones that Gov's of Texas and Ohio didn't have the balls to do.

I doubt it, but can only hope.

May sound like a great deal to someone in Liberia
--they don't know that often times someone with an
AMERICAN seeking routine care--like a
mole on their neck ends up on life-support in
I.C.U. because some doctor (also trained in Liberia)
makes a boo-boo. It's NOT all roses to go to
an American hospital!

My God-mother went to a hospital in the midwest
to have a mole removed and caught "Legionaire's
Disease" from bad air conditioning! You just never
know...

@ChuckCJohnson: I'm hearing from Newark PD sources that they have a confirmed case of #ebola at UMDNJ hospital.

This guy has a mediocre track record. He broke the story of Nina Pham's name, but also published a fake story that her bf had symptoms (unless thats actually real..) Anyway to his possible credit he is just reportingg what he is hearing..

Same search on Google the second time didn't post the same results. Had to add keywords to get it to show up again, but then I also got the nbc story(bonus). It really does seem like all the ebola news is being censored.
