Quoting: Anonymous Coward 23142380 now, i look and see what is cheapest of everything with nothing specific in mind, so if chicken is cheap i'll use that, if ground beef is cheaper, i'll make a meal round that. also not buying things when i need them but when they are cheap on sale, so buying lots of coffee at one time. also really using everything up, if its fruit past its best it can make a fruit pie, if its vegetables past its best it can make a soup, if its tomatoes a little soft, it can make a spaghetti sauce. also before i would buy everything one trip from one store, now it takes a little more effort to o to a few different stores to save a little money, within walking distance of each other. also to use substitutes, not always making a recipe with the same ingrediants every time. Well, you are what you eat OP. Lots of that cheap shit you want to buy is GMO and filled with filler crap and tons of chemicals. I hope you stay healthy. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Forget the red or the blue pill. Take the Gold Elixir. “How can there be a God, when there is nothing but God.” - Laozi “Naturalness is called the Way. Anonymous Coward User ID: 61646741 Canada 10/23/2014 03:59 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I do most my shopping at mom and pop veg markets. The place i goto is literally 30 x 40 feet. But they have almost everything except for fresh meat. And the prices are always half of what you pay at a huge store. Since their store is so small the overhead is next to nothing. I have not been inside a safeway for a looong time. So as long as you don't mind cramped shopping, might be an option for you. I get all my meat from the butcher which is also cheaper then store and usually a better local quality grain fed and no hormones and all that jazz. that's how i changed my habbits. and the nice part is, it takes no time, im in and out in under 5 minuts, i buy everything as i need it exept for some canned goods, so i always have the freshist. as soon as you step foot into a safeway you just lost at least 30 mins of your life. between having to find the stuff and waiting in a huge line.. i can't stand big stores anymore!!! |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 63265313 Ireland 10/23/2014 04:35 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I make my menu for the week, and then go buy the best and most nutritious ingredients to prepare the meals with from scratch and never look at the price tag. My families health far outweighs saving a few bucks on poor quality foods, that ultimately will cost you many times what you save, down the road, in doctor and hospital bills...not to mention the pain and suffering that goes along with being sick. Quoting: BRIEF Snap. I'm fussy about food on my families behalf. If you knew why some food is cheaper than others, you wouldn't eat it :-) |
